Ah jaysus, you have sold it to me. I have CEX across the road. Will tip in after work and pick one up. Anyone ever bought off CEX? Are the items in there good condition/quality? I am a picky ****er when it comes to what I own :)

There's a 12 month warranty on anything you buy from CeX anyway :)

I got my kinect from CeX for €25 a year ago and it's still working fine, I don't use it for gaming but the voice commands are so handy.

Not enough games support the Kinect, which is a huge pity. In Dead Rising 3 you could drop weapons, tell your follower to attack or even point to where you wanted them to go.

I got the Kinect for the 360 after seeing the preview ad with the kid scanning his skateboard and the machine talking back to you.
I expected something similar to that and instead I was very very disappointed with it. :(

Are you serious ? I loved that game and never realised that at all :O

Picked one up at lunch, 50 squids and it looks to be in great condition. Will setup tonight and give it a shot.

Is there a date for the major xbox update that adds Cortana and backwards compatibility?

They aren't the same updates. November for the backwards compatibility update, Cortana in 2016. That's for the general public, preview members already have the former, and will get the latter a couple of months earlier.

I don't know about everyone else but I love my kinect & would never sell it.

The voice commands once you get used to them you'll feel empty without them :D

Also, if you ever use Skype video chat then the kinect is ridiculously clear full hd video.

CeX are selling them for €50 if you have 1 near you: https://ie.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SXB1OFFKIN2#.Vhecf3pVhBc

My Kinect died this week (day one edition) and I miss it heaps. The Xbox experience is much less without it.

It doesn't say hello to me when I come into the room, I have to switch on and off the TV myself. Not to mention the burden of finding the controller to pause and play videos.

Currently battling with MS for a free repair, but they insist warranty I one year. I'm sticking to my EU consumer rights guns thanks to Boardsies.

Yup, zombies could hear you as well and would come find you, was a bastard if you had a baby in the house.

Ya take no heed of that warranty ****e.

Did i read somewhere aswell that if you had Kinect while playing Alien Isolation, if you banged something or made noise, the alien would react and come kill you?

    Yup

Yep. The EU Sale of Goods and Associated Guarantees Directive 99/44/EC, the UK Sales of Goods Act 1979 and the Irish Sales of Goods and Supplies of Services Act 1989 are your best friends.

Also, phoning and talking with Xbox Support yields a better result than talking to them over Chat. It looks like they will finally accept the above details and will arrange a free repair / replacement.

Probably would have been less hassle just to go to CEX and pick up a second hand one, but it's the principle of the thing. Move over, Conor Pope :)

Chaps, little help here please. Got the Kinect 2 all hooked up now and it is accepting all of my voice commands. The only thing I cannot understand is that everytime I check what my Kinect sees, it says "Guest" for me even though I am logged in etc. What am I doing wrong? Why is the Kinect not seeing me as my gamertag or is it supposed to?

So far the voice commands are very quick so I am liking that part.

Ahh got it, you have to sign in with kinect aswell as normal. It now sees me correctly :). This is a cool device.

Cex will be wondering how the f*ck they're suddenly selling loads of Kinects soon :)

Quick question about using the Kinect during gameplay. It is working perfectly, as in I can say Xbox and then any command but I am having issues using it to enhance games.

For example, I started Tomb Raider again to give it a shot with Kinect and while the gestures are working, the voice commands are not. Am I doing something wrong here or is this an issue with Tomb Raider? Anyone that has Tomb Raider installed, try saying "Bow" or "Pistel" or "Show Map". None of these work for me. I can't figure out what is wrong.

Other than that, I am loving it. It is really responsive and no matter how fast I speak, it seems to be picking up everything I say.

Also, if you don't mind can one of you check what software version your Kinect is running?

    Mine says : 4.0.3912.0:7

I have the xbox one experience, forgot I signed up to it, and I can't connect to Xbox Live even though my network test says everything is fine. Any ideas?

Happened to me yesterday. Disconnected my wireless connection in settings. Then reconnect and should be fine!

Anyone able to get Witcher 3 to work with NXE?
When I try to load my save it tells me I need all the dlc to load it, but I have them. I uninstalled all of them & reinstalled but still no joy.

There was a fairly big patch I had to install last night for it but I hadn't played for ages. You have a season pass maybe??? There was some issue there where the fix was to delete any other SP you had or something it's in the knows issues if you look cant recall exactly what it was now.

I get that wireless thing everytime I log in. Think it's related to having an external HDD

Did you cold boot? I can't check now, 16gb update :(

It is, should be fixed on any build from last week onwards.

Yeah, I've hard reset, cold started. Still no joy. I can start a new save no problem but I want to play my own save of course.

I've uninstalled all dlc's and reinstalled, relaunched game, still nothing.

If you own the game on disc, does it not install updates until you put disc in?

I don't have an external HDD and my wifi needs to be disconnected in settings and reconnected every time I turn my xb1 on, same for friends with nxe.

    Hard wired is ok tho.

I've never used a physical disk myself so don't know. Is the game on an external? I have had funky stuff happen with dlc on different storgae device to the game itself.

Just assumed because you're only installing 16gb update now, did it not auto install days ago?

No, I have everything on the 1 internal HDD. I'll have to suffer on I spose... :o

I guess the patch is recentish? I've had my consoles here turned off off for a while.

Yeah update didn't sort it for me, reported it again.

Don't have my console set to auto update stuff, so get the patches as I need them for games. Hadn't played Witcher since i finished it so was back in June i think the last time I played it.

Nevermind I think it was the new dlc for witcher 3 that's out tomorrow that was causing the problem. It must have just unlocked now or something because when I loaded up withcer 3 this time around it had a special pop up message and the game save loaded perfectly.
