Internal job interview

So in the next week or two I will be interviewed for an internal position in my company (if successful it means I would get a step or two up the ladder). I don't know if it will be a telephone interview or in person (I work remotely) but I'm just wondering if it is in person should I wear a suit or what I normally wear…

Always show that you made an effort; it's about showing the person interviewing you that you're taking it seriously even if it's not "needed".

Yes, even if it's internal, wear a suit. I did this process last year. Workplace was ultra casual, people in shorts and sandals during the summer, but I did all my internal interviews in a suit. People were surprised but it was well received.
