Invitation from Permanent TSB to switch mortgage to MVR, any hidden surprises?

    Hi,
    We have our mortgage with Permanent TSB.
    We have recently received a letter from the bank inviting us to switch our mortgage to a managed variable rate mortgage (MRV), we would save over 0.5% in rate which would be great.
    I have read through the papers sent and can't see anything of concern, .ie, locked in for a number of years etc but I can't help being suspicious.

    Does anyone know if there is something unusual about those deals?

    Nothing untoward in this, they did say in the press last week that they would be offering new LTV variable rates and would be writing out to approx. 73,000 people who would be eligible for this.
    You will probably need to have a valuation of your property done by one of the banks lenders, which will incur a fee of about €130.00(agree this price with them before having it done) but that is about it.

    No fee payable for the valuation, PTSB post you a voucher which gives you free valuation

    No cost to you so OP, have you spoken to PTSB about it?
