Does anyone know if we have food banks here?
Was just watching a programme on BBC about food banks in the UK and if there are any here, I'd like to donate to them.

Yeah there is quite a few, a new one was recently opened in Dublin. And had a ribbon cutting ceremony complete with Joan Burtons smiling face. Yay foodbanks I guess...

There are also a couple of initiatives collecting surplus food from supermarkets/food production companies to get to food banks:

Also there was a guy on Anton Savage a week or so ago running a soup kitchen in Drogheda. He sounded lovely and if I was going to donate to anyone, he sounded like someone who was very deserving. You can listen to the podcast for 28 September if you are interested.

There,s places that give out food parcels every day,
    at a certain time,
and also serve free dinners ,to homeless people.
From a place in church st, dublin .

Whats the compound interest on a slice of bread and a tin of beans?

And I heard a priest the other day saying half the people coming in for dinners aren't even homeless but they can't say anything.

Great bunch of lads we are sometimes.

Was on a job last week and they used to do free dinners at midday everyday.
Unfortunately it had to stop because of the hi-ace brigade coming every day and blocking up the place for the genuinely needy.
    You have to wonder...
