I enjoyed BO'D on the ITV coverage yesterday.

He seemed a bit bemused when Inverdale, when asking him a question, felt the need to squeeze into the question, the breaking news that Liverpool FC had just sacked Brendan Rodgers. BO'D was like....wtf?

Jason Robinson is a bit of a bore though!

That's my primary complaint with TV3's coverage. World cups are the main opportunity to increase rugby's broader appeal, yet I'd imagine the casual viewer hasn't a fuppin' notion what Liam Toland is on about most of the time. Toland loves dropping an auld random stat-bomb too.

TG4's rugby coverage is more sympathetic to English-speakers than TV3's.

The amount of ads is making half-time analysis non-existant. Surely TV3 could just double what they're charging and show half the running time of ads here?

Haven't watched much of the ITV punditry,

    but TV3 consists of;

Matt asks a question, the panel begin answering the question, Matt then cuts in with another completely unrelated question, followed immediately by "Stay tuned, the guys will answer right after the break"

after a 5 minute break, they cut back to the coverage of the teams just about to kick off the 2nd half.

'If" Ireland do win this World Cup, great as it will be, it just won't be the same due to TV3's horrible horrible coverage of the event.

With RTE/BBC, they make you feel like you are there, absorbing the atmosphere through your TV, with TV3, I just want to buy a new Range Rover, or read Heat magazine or something!!

(I've not even been overly bothered about missing some of the games! I watched the Canada game, missed most of the Romania game due to collecting someone at the airport, missed most (all) of the Italy game yesterday as I was waiting with someone in the emergency room, despite the game being on in the waiting area).

I know I shouldn't feel like this, but with it being on TV3, I just haven't fully gotten into the tournament yet as much as I know I would have if RTE were doing it!!
I never thought something as trivial as what station is showing the games would affect me so much!! but it is.

everything is just all wrong, the TV3 studio, the commentators, the panel/host, the ads, the sense that almost nobody in TV3 knows anything about rugby, the laughable WC logo that has adorned all TV3 programming for the last 2 (and next 4) weeks.

I honestly didn't believe they could do worse than 2007, but they have certainly surpassed it!! (At least in 2007 we were out quick enough, and it didn't bother me so much, but now we've a QF to play, so it's a lot more serious than in 2007).

TV3 are giving us wall to wall coverage of the tournament every game is live on their platform, i find more immersive that any previous world cup to be honest, because its not on at all ours of the morning or not on setanta most of the time like in 2007. The range rover ads are pushed by the organisers , RTE would have had to do them too.

RTE haven't had the chance to prove to us at world cups what they are capable of doing because the last two they did were on at all hours of the morning and hence they never went to the trouble of showing every game.

One thing that TV3 will learn from this, is that Tommy Martin knows enough to be their lead anchor , Matt sounds like he is reading from the prompter and whats in his ear. The other thing is that Dave McIntyre beats McNamara hands down for calling games and they should have backed him insted of McNamara to be lead commentator.

McNamara gives such little detail i dunno how he manages doing football on 5Live to be honest.

One thing i will credit TV3 for is not giving into the temptation of finding a token wind up merchant in order to mimic what rte do for all their sports coverage. Neil Francis was there and waiting i'd say if they wanted him.

Yesterday's Ireland-Italy match gave TV3 it's highest ratings ever! They are guaranteed two more Irish matches, so I would expect that record to be broken again.

He's a great commentator. The right mix of excitement and knowledge. McIntyre that is

Well, we did learn that one of the Fijians likes to brush his teeth just before the team walks out and that Ma'afu's real name is George David Campese Ma'afu.

The commentary team I thought were fine tonight, seemed to be enjoying themselves anyway.

Anyone notice the first day they were using the high table to the other side of the studio. Mal and Hugo McNeil were standing across from Tommy Martin and both were towering over him, the tall lads seem to feel more awkward than Martin. Cut to the end of the 1st half then and they were all sitting on bar stools.

McNamara has been terrible. Who is the aussie/sth African doing it when the 2 Mc's are off? I like him.

McIntyre should be ahead of McNamara though.

You do know it was the World Feed provided by the Rugby World Cup Organiser's that was commentating last night.... Nothing to do with TV3 themselves

The Aussie with the really relaxing gentle voice who has a load of random facts about everyone? I don't know who he is but I enjoy listening to him. I know Joel Stranksy has been doing a few games too.

Lads who did the commentary by RTE for games not involving Ireland the last world in the group stages. I know Ryle wasn't out there til the 1/4s and Huge Cahill did the Ireland group games. Did they just used the organisers feed

McNamara is terrible, I've moved over to ITV for Irish matches or any other match he's involved with. What is that accent/voice he's putting on about?

All he ever seems to say is the players name and then some inane stat that he's written down before the match about them.

I'm guessing he has some commentary experience prior to this to have got the gig for the WC, but I can't imagine how any TV exec having heard it thought he had any talent or feel for commentating.

Setanta had the rights in 2011. RTE only had Ireland games and the knockouts.

Wish I had the ITV option but not possible with UPC/Virgin.

I think his name is Gordon Bray.

Just aswell that wasn't an exciting game that I missed the end of because 3e didn't allow for any overrun in the match on recording.
    Oh wait

He's brilliant. Covers a lot of games in Rugby Championship. He knows his rugby too but doesn't talk too much either.

    More of him plz.

He does football on BBC 5 Live and MoTD.

I think his name is Gordon Bray.

Cheers if that is him then Yes... should be more of him. He is a big name in Oz. I've heard Stransky too but he is the sidekick right? we need a lead commentator like Bray but I guess when Ireland are playing they need an irish lad leading it. If so it has to be McIntyre. The McNamara experiment away from (this is not) football (Nigel Owens) has to be kicked to touch.

I'm not sure Gordon Bray is the way to go with lead commentators if he's the guy I'm thinking of. He's too gentle and relaxed. Personally I love the more excited and rowdy style of Australian commentary.

Ya the main fox guys are great. The main NRL guy is really entertaining too his excitement when there is any incling of a fight breaking out is brilliant.
