Can't re-install iginition key barrel Saab 95

Hi all I removed the key barrel from my 2004 9-5 as it needed cleaning and now I cant get the bloody thing back in again agghhhhhh, Has any one removed/replaced a key barrel successfully or can give me assistance in getting the car back up and running . I'am in Naas . thanks in advance brendan

Many ignition barrels have a "tab" or small "lug" somewhere on the outside, that needs to be depressed, to allow the barrel to engage. Alternatively, many need to have the key inserted and possibly turned to No.1 position to facilitate fitting.

I'm no expert on your car but it might be worth looking into. Others will no doubt chime in.

but in the process of re-installing the barrel the locking clip broke agghhhh so its new barrel time for me I'am afraid .
