Today was absolutely sick... fair play to Arsenal they had a great game but we were all over the place in the first 20... on another day we could have lost that 5-0.

Our back 4 is now a massive worry, you can't blame Young and Blind - they shouldn't be there... our failure to bring in cover at the back during the summer will kill us... One thing for certain is Bastian and Carrick should not start together against such quality.

They were unplayable today and deserve the win. United have started games to slowly, even against Southampton it took 30 minutes to get going.

As bad as United were in the first 20 minutes, Arsenal didn't put 1 foot wrong. They were phenomenal, it was like what United, Chelsea and Liverpool have done to them on occasions over the last few years. They are dishing it out in return a bit lately and you have to take your hat off to Wenger for that.

Today showed also, that at the top level our Midfield problems are not fully solved yet.

And while they got no cover from our Midfield (especially Mata and Depay) , our backs 4 is rife with problems. We need to get Daley Blind out of center half asap and put in Jones there.this notion that Him and Smalling are some super form of partnership is rapidly being shown up.

I really am delighted to see the thread hasn't melted down, I am, but brushing this off as just a loss against good opposition is a measurable state of denial.

Taking nothing away from some good work done so far this season, today's loss showed up just how easy it currently can be for a good team to tear us apart within minutes, and never mind embarrassing, it was frightening.

Trying to win games against better opposition is futile when 2 of your 4 attacking players are currently being played in the hope of hitting form, rather than being played because of their form. I'm talking about Rooney and Memphis. Memphis is clearly having a slow adaption to the club, and Rooney is..I don't know. One of them has to be benched for the next game. The problems I see with dropping either of them is 1) Who else is there but Memphis for that wing? 2) Rooney is apparently undroppable, even if we have options for his spot that we don't have for Memphis'.

A midfield 2 with a combined age of 65 for this game was a dire call from the manager. Arsenal were only going to come out hungry after suffering a shameful mid-week loss, and they showed last weekend that they can actually play. They have the players to spring from the traps and LVG should have adjusted the line-up and the tactics to suit the foreseeable offense which would be Arsenal throwing everything at us for the first 30 minutes. Bad call from LVG. Regarding players, today was a litmus test to show just how effective a duo of Basti and Carrick can be against good opposition - it failed miserably.

A minor positive from today is that Martial is still going to be a beast. It is unfortunate that the weight of United's hopes is resting on his shoulders right now and as I've said in recent weeks, despite the fact that LVG has fúck all other options, I hope Martial doesn't get played into the ground. Also, good to see Wilson get some minutes. In fairness to the manager, I see this as a 'we're fúcked anyway, may as well give the boy some minutes' call rather than a 'hoping for a miracle' one. There was a moment where Wilson and Martial linked up, I'm looking forward to seeing them get some more minutes together that isn't in a 3-0 down situation.

Bad day at the office, a reality check, litmus test, whatever - that fúcking sucked and it would be foolish to brush it off as just a loss to a good Arsenal side. It's these good sides who are our rivals, and we'll be playing another team with the ability to kill us within 20 minutes with the derby coming up. Kill us, that is if some realities aren't faced by the manager very soon. We were taken to school today, and I really hope LVG learned a lesson or 2 while he was there.

Anybody but Ancelotti or Klopp for Pool, they could elevate them from mid table irrelevance into genuine top 4 challengers

Ancelotti would be ok,good with a decent team but not so good building his own.

Just watching LVG's post match interview and he did looked rattled .... fair play to Arsenal they really did put us to the sword when they had the chance.

Carlo or klopp is not doing to Liverpool.
    Absolute downward move for them.

I will close my account if that happens.

You learn more when you get beat is what they say.

And it's true on a day like today.

Certainly a reality check for us anyway, Arsenal were fantastic in that first half... Everton (A) and City (H) next - it doesn't get any easier!

Schneiderlin should have been played. This could be the last season for Carrick and Rooney.
Over the next two transfer windows we will need to buy for defense, midfield and attack.

Keylor Navas saves a penalty taken by Griezmann, De Gea's chances of going to Real Madrid are reducing all the time.

Just saw the interview. Is it just me or was LVG on the verge of crying? :o

    Certainly.

The loss came at a good time and dosent negate the good progressive stuff from the last few months

I think the fact that Wenger out-taught him tactically in that first half will absolutely kill him tonight...

He was very disappointed and his eyes were a bit watery.

Seems like Klopp is a shoe in.

Plus you never leave even when you have.

I'm not so sure Klopp is a shoe in. I reckon he would already be there if they were thinking of him.

A couple of weeks ago, there were discussions on how our midfield is sorted and the problems lie at the defense and forwards. Today we lost because of the bizarre positions our midfielders got themselves in. Like what the actual f**k was Schweinsteiger doing chasing down Mertesacker and Gabriel ahead of Martial and Depay!!!

Louis Van Gaal got tactically f**ked over today by Wenger. He was broken in that interview but was able to face the truth. Only positive from today for me was Martial who looked bright and actually attempted to do something with the ball rather than kick it back. I feel sorry for the lad though. He is surrounded by players who sometimes just can't do **** all!!!

Imagine the poems and ballads they'd write if he takes over.

I have an irrational dislike of that Gabriel fella off Arsenal. I think it's his mouth that creeps me out :o
He could eat an apple through a letterbox.

He has been "available" for a good while now and seemingly batted his eyelashes in their direction. If FSG were interested in him then I think it would have happened before now.
Could be way off the mark but I don't think he is their type of man.

i was thinking the same. i thought rooney should have been doing that job, but i think he was watching someone else. anyhow it led to a big hole in our MF.

if we had a three man MF with morgan and carrick holding their lines, bastian would have not left a hole there.

ah well you live and learn. hopefully van gaal realizes from the second half, that is what we need in terms of formation

Today showed that Carrick doesn't have the legs anymore,Arsenal pressed and harried like men posessed for the first 20 minutes and he looked lost and couldn't provide the cover he usually does.It must also have been tactical to have Schweinsteiger play so far ahead of him which left him exposed and Arsenal simply played around him and ran at the back 4.

"I don't know what went wrong but I'm emotional about that performance" - LVG

I wonder what he said at half time and full time?

I get the feeling he either completely lost it and had a go at everyone in the dressing room or he quietly got some alone time after the game and couldn't emotionally cope with what just happened. :o

The hate the fact that the international break has to come now. The next week or so will probably just be negative nonsense so i'm gonna take a break from here for a bit. The game against Everton will be very difficult. They did us last year, Lukaku is looking sharp and Martinez looks like he knows what he is doing
