The Guardian is slowly becoming a satire news site.

I'd be interested to know if someone tried to sweat shame you, what would be the ultimate insult to being shamed like that.

Apparently sweating is really healthy and is a self cleaning mechanism of the body to clear out all the toxins etc..

So is pissing but I wouldn't want someone dripping with piss standing close to me in a queue either.

Is it me or is the majority of "shaming" directed at women? Wonder how much of it is actual and how much of it is perceived. In this instance, it was very much the latter.

These alleged "shaming" articles are indeed almost always about women but please don't think we all take this crap seriously.

I don't have to put up with your Testicle Shaming, look forward to my forthcoming article on the matter!

Thats so ****ing stupid. You can take a shower and rid yourself of the 'shame' in a matter of moments. At least with the others , like slut shaming or fat shaming it can take quite some time to lose your 'slut tag or lose weight..

Simple solution: After the run/work out, go home, take a shower and brew your own ****ing coffee in stead of that overpriced starbucks crap

Ever notice how stories like these always mention something like Starbucks, M&S, a classy restaurant? I reckon she was standing in a queue in a Spar getting a bottle of Fanta and a packet of wotsits, but needed to 'glam up' the article.

I think it's more likely rich people who live in overpriced places with no proper problems to go on about.

Plus -- if she's really just after finishing a 12 mile run, is a coffee from Starbucks really going to be your first priority?
And why would she be getting into a car? If you're gonna run 12 miles, surely it would make since to simply start and finish at home?

I bet this article is made up for hits. 2/10. Samantha Brick does it better.

Someone needs to write a counter article "Sweat triggers me" or something like that, just to see how long it takes before the nutters realise it's a joke :p

This and many other first world problems like it can be sorted relatively easily with one quick sentence:

"Shut your fúcking whore mouth and mind your own business"

In fairness to that, there mightn't be a good place to run 12 miles within walking distance, so a car would be necessary.

I still think it's a crock of sh.... If you're after running 12 miles and are all hot and sweaty, you'd want a cold drink, not a hot coffee.

As someone who regularly runs this distance, I disagree. In fact, if I drink a cold drink when my body is that warm - I feel like puking!

Also I regularly do it from somewhere other than home, for lots of reasons!

i know there's something about hot drinks keeping you cooler in the sun (provided you have enough skin exposed for the sweat to do its thing) so maybe it's the same here?

Putting Shame next to something does not actually make it shaming....... It's another word now that has lost all meaning just like Racism.

Eventually the caffeine kicked in and it hit me: I’d been sweat-shamed.

This is what happens to your state of mind when you endlessly gobble up this kinda bs. You'll associate any slight or perceived wrongdoing as part of a broader problem, one probably orchestrated by those baddies you don't like very much.

I also know people with similar views to yours. To be honest, I regard such views in the same dangerous category as evolution-denialists and flat-Earthers. ;)

One does not simply drink something not from the fridge after strenuous exercise.
And preferably, one does not simply drink something with an ABV of less than 5% after strenuous exercise ;)

There's a flaw in this logic - the shamer was a fellow Starbucks enthusiast.

I mean Jaysus, if that lot can't stick together they simply won't survive at all. Coffee is sure to have a Wetherspoons moment any day now :p

I believe there's something about drinking a hot drink on a hot day that makes your body feel cooler, because it's trying to adjust and cook itself down because of the temperatures. It's a practice that happens in many hot countries. I'm sure someone can explain it better than I can.

Is it not that drinking hot liquid raises core temperature forcing you to sweat more effectively cooling you faster than cooling from inside and sweating less.

    That makes more sense.

Plus isn't there some benefit to drinking coffee before exercise, which would help burn fat quicker? Not sure if it does anything after.

    Caffeine stimulates your metabolism.

There are studies that suggest that drinking cold water when your core temperature is high, will shock your internal organs. I haven't done a huge amount of research on it, I just know that if I drink a cold drink after a hard workout or long run, I feel sick. A cup of tea though makes me feel better. So anecdotally, these studies are true!!

    I like it.

I was ordering coffee when I noticed a well-dressed woman staring at me.

“You look like you just did a class,” she said, giving me the once-over. I had no idea what she meant so I said nothing.

“Or swimming?” she offered, with a tight smile.

Oh, that. I’d just run 12 miles and the hair sticking out from under my hat was wet.
This reminds me of the time I Whatsapp'ing a friend of mine on the bus. I overheard someone behind me mention that I looked like I was texting someone... "or maybe on Facebook"

The moment I got off that bus, I smashed it against my skull over and over until nothing but blood soaked shards of plastic and wire remained.

Whatsapp Shaming is a real thing, people!

As someone who has never run this distance, I'll stand corrected. I did a 5k run once (it nearly killed me) and I was glad of the bottle of water they gave us at the end. No way would I have been able for tea or coffee.
