Do you mean ME personally or the land of my birth?

In light of the post I was quoting,it was aimed at the establishment in England, rather than at your good self.
Unless of course, you agree with those acts

A poster starts a light hearted thread about sport and someone puts up a post about the famine.

Once anyone mentions Britishness or anything related to it, some goon has to post about "de famine". As for the original post, I wouldn't be poking any fun at the England rugby team. Ireland could exit the competition at the group stage.

I'm pretty sure that they make it up as they go along, some of the players don't know the rules.

Just like the referee does in GAA, to make sure that Dublin wins? I don't watch GAA myself that much but friends of mine has told me that that is the case.

I don't agree with the acts of the past, I can't imagine anyone who would. I feel that the Irish were absolutely exploited by the English in those days and I can understand their fight for independence but I don't think they will get back the six(?) counties. I hope I am not getting in too deep here. Will it mean another warning?

Northern Ireland was populated by Scots back in the day. Scotland was populated by the Irish "Scotti" tribe before then, bringing the kilt and the bagpipes. Well, that's what I read on the net. Is it true?

They lost the 9 ball pool World Cup final tonight also.

I heard the Chinese had more pound coins lined up on the table is all.

But the replay of the rugby on the pub large screen probably didn't help.

Yes, good point. Maybe we could annex Ireland and make sure it exports all its good food while the Irish starve. I get your point and I am disgusted by the way the English behaved back in those times. We English should be ashamed. Were you ever compensated?

I'm not ashamed of anything, I'm innocent m'lud.

Disgusted by the events of the time, yes, but personally ashamed, no. I'm not responsible for the actions of people 100's of years ago. Besides, my lineage is mostly Irish. :)

Yes, and Lady Chatterley's Lover is a dirty book. I know, because I never read it.

it's not a dirty book, it's a love story and you should read it. Don't watch the films because they don't follow the book. It ends with them apart and working towards being together, eventually. He is working to save money to buy a farm and she is living with her father while she is expecting her child. Seems there should have been a sequel but we are still waiting.

Why? You are not responsible for the actions of your ancestors.
    Were you ever compensated?

Ye can forget about the bailout repayments if you want!

You said that you were ashamed for the actions of the English. I said that it is pointless feeling shame for something you played no part in. You asked were we ever compensated. I said you can waive the bailout repayments that we received from the UK in 2010 if you want.

I know nothing of the bailout payments of 2010. Excuse my ignorance, please.

    Is this what you mean?
    What Britain will contribute:
    - €3.8bn in loans.

    Note the word "loans".
