    Looking for some advice.

Need to submit cover letter for an internal role I'm applying for. I'm not strong with cover letters in general and want to check on here that I'm covering everything.

    Proposed template:
Paragraph 1 - state I'm applying for role of xx
Paragraph 2 - briefly outline my previous experience and skills that are relevant to the position
Paragraph 3 - finish up by thanking them for opportunity

If I'm missing anything, please let me know.

I'd flip it around a bit - you don't want to duplicate your CV. I'd list the responsibilities of the role and give examples of why you're a good match for it. As an internal candidate, you should have a good idea of what they're looking for, what their goals are - so you should use that in the cover letter.

I will work around with it to do the above.

Although I'm an internal candidate, I am quite new to the company (six months). My competition are colleagues who have much longer tenure but lack the relevant experience (which I have from external positions/companies).

Cool, so you'll have to spell out previous experience and results more than someone they know very well would have to.
