I am an Irish qualified solicitor working in commercial property. I have been qualified for 2 years, working in a law firm in Dublin. I would love to move to Australia and work in a law firm there. Has anyone done that move? Recruitment agencies just never get back to me and I am finding the process very frustrating!! I would love to hear other peoples stories and maybe learn one or two tips as a result! Many thanks! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have heard of some, but do not know any at present.

At one stage an Irish solicitor working in New South Wales could transfer easily to the bar, and then could get a call to the bar in London.

I know of one rather colourful Irish solicitor who pursued that.

That was brought in when Gavan Duffy was Premier there.

Check the Gazette indices. I remember seeing maybe a couple of articles on working in Australia in the last few years. Both the process and experiences of it.
