I disagree. If a person believes that the positioning and alignment of stars and planets has any effect on their day to day life then that person is, in my opinion, stupid.
And yes, I don't generally like a lot of people, and that may indeed be sad. It doesn't however, negate my point.

    Read this.

"Cannot imply causation" being the most pertinent quote from your link.

Also of note is the research published in the journal of psychosomatic research. I.e. the jouranl of it's all in your head research.

It may be possible of course for gravity based or magnetic forces generated by the moons periodic proximity to earth could possibly have some effect on human biological processes, however believing that you will meet your "true love" tomorrow because venus is in the ascendant or some such is just barmy.

The moon may well be the only exception to the 'heavenly bodies affect people' idea. It does have a real effect on the earth (tidal movement) whereas all the horoscope stuff is just down to perception of the position of a distant star relative to a totally unrelated other star, as viewed from earth.

Generally speaking, what makes you consider a person to be unintelligent? Or lacking in common sense, maybe.

Personally, it's anyone who takes the horoscopes seriously. Or is superstitious in general! Or someone who uses celebrities as role models instead of actual people.

Someone said the world was round he was classed superstitious right? So you think he was unintelligent? Personally?

I won't make the list I was going to, but, be rest assured some of the more intellectual folks to grace us have been labeled superstitious, generally by factions that wanted to tarnish a name or idea, or by those who are too unintelligent to recognize.

Celebrities ARE "actual people"- who sadly for your attempted generalization often do better in life than non celebrities and thus the very fact they do annihilates your shockingly bad assumption that there is something wrong with following in successful people's paths.

As far as attacking Astrology, your just ignorant on the subject clearly.

Personally, I would consider somebody like the OP unintelligent, for all I have stated, every piece of information was available to me, for free, using the same platform (the inter web) as the OP used to post here.

Generalizing while being biased to your own conditioning, where a lot of people will see and respond, try to show you lessons in perspective, but (and this is il admit general and biased) probably refuse to acknowledge and thus learn from your experience.... Unintelligent.

An Irishman without a passport or means to see Liverpool/any other cannot support them?

It's like saying Gidaffi didn't support Ireland because he never hand delivered the AK's...

What superstition taught that the Earth was round? Wasn't human understanding of the shape of the Earth determined by observation and deduction, i.e. not superstition?

Perhaps you could present a defence of astrology based on something other than 'your (sic) just ignorant'?

I don't even know where to begin with this..

The earth being round observation is credited to pythagoras, and was based on reason and critical thinking. No doubt he was superstitious in some way or another, he was an ancient greek after all but crucially, he grounded the belief in mathematical concepts and logic. Your equating that as superstitious thinking is profoundly misguided.

It's true that many great intellectuals throughout history have been superstitious (newton springs to mind) but you can safely say that any of their contributions were made in spite of their superstitious beliefs, not because of them.

The belief that celebrities do better in life and are thus worthy of emulating in all cases, regardless of how they have achieved their celebrity is short sighted as it makes no distinction between those who have excelled through talent / ability, hard work or innovation and those who have achieved their status through naked ambition or a willingness to debase themselves in order to achieve it.

I am ignorant of astrology so you have me there, I would only say that I am ignorant of it as I choose to remain ignorant of foolish beliefs.

As for the last point, all information on the internet is not equal.

Also, your last point identifies generalisation and bias as the basis for ignorance and yet admits your own generalisations and bias so um...

Oh astrology is an art that enables you to see life in its most realistic light.

I recall a night when the neighbour turned up at our door, drunk as a skunk, after a massive fight with her partner and started lecturing us on the art of astrology which she had "studied for years". Her own relationship was likewise a proven example how well her own and the partner's star signs align and complement each other - my own relationship must be sh1t if a good relationship is defined by regular violent outburst and screaming.

I think the poster was referring to the use of "we" when the team you support win.

It's like if I claimed that "we" kept the Ark of the Covenant out of Hitler's hands.

I had nothing to do with it, I just watched and cheered Indiana Jones on!

Cheers for that, I didn't know kids could get cancer until you changed your profile picture to Wonder Woman.

This thread isnt really "signs people are dim", its "things people do that annoy me or which I don't like", which is a different kettle of fish altogether.
