After signing up for my second (free...) month.

Where the dang hell is Best of Nitro 3 and the Monday Night War Shots fired specials? Didnt realise that not all DVD releases go up. Makes perfect sense to make money from both ways I guess but.... still sh1te

DVD releases go up eventually. It's far from Sh!te in fairness, and you're getting it for free - you've hardly got grounds for complaint.

The Monday Night Wars are on the Network

Best of Nitro 3 is the third volume of a best of Nitro compilation. Monday Night War is a 20 episode series that aired on the Network and they later released it on DVD in separate volumes with a few extra bits. Occasionally 30minute "sneak peak previews" of DVDs are added to the Network. I'd say most of the DVD documentaries they have released in the last ten years are on there but some are not eg. Jake Roberts.

Fwiw, complaining and criticism are different. You don't need to pay for something to criticise it and WWE Network is fair game for plenty of criticism.

AH I know I genuinely cant complain at all- what they do have on there in the "Beyond the Ring" section is good enough anyway, been enjoying some old Nitros too. The changing of themes in the Vault is fair annoying though Jarretts WCW music from 99 is hilarious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

I don't understand why they can't just use the themes that were there back at the time if Jimmy Hart composed some of them, surely he's under a legends contract with the WWE still?

I havent come across any theme alterations in any old WWF shows, but WCW must have been paying stupid money for some themes. eg. Sting, Hollywood etc

The new JBL show is very good and i like JBL as an interviewer. Bischoff is a great first interview and cant wait for part 2 next week.

Here's hoping Eric can come back to wwe as a gm in the future.

If this reddit wiki is up to date then I'd strongly recommend:

    • Rise/Fall ECW
    • Bret Hart
    • Paul Heyman
    • CM Punk
    • Steve Austin
    • Ric Flair

The AWA and WCCW documentaries are worth a look if that interests you. Likewise, for Dusty Rhodes, Billy Graham, Jericho, Steamboat, Pillman,Road Warriors, Edge, Mr Perfect, Piper. I found the first Batista doc and the Big Show one surprisingly watchable.

A few of the Beyond the Ring videos are shortened versions of DVD match compilations which are hit or miss. Some of the Rivalries and Wrestlemania rewinds are short easy watches. The Daniel Bryan Wrestlemania 30 documentary in "Original Specials" is very good.

The Bischoff JBL interview was fine but it felt a bit like Bischoff was using it as an interview reel to show his investor mates.

Few ECW Hardcore TV eps from 1997 are up and they've lashed up quite a few 1996 eps.

Jimmy Hart didn't do all the WCW themes or the WWF themes for that matter. They've made an effort to make deals for rights on music where possible given the sheer cost and man hours it takes to edit the music out and add back in a new audio track with the commentary, crowd and the new music. But evidently there are exceptions.

Best is Hillbilly Jims. Watching In Your House 5 the other day, Jim is the guest referee. "Don't go messing with a country boy" was his theme at the time. They've edited in this generic country banjo theme that wouldn't be out of place in a chase scene on Dukes Of Hazard, with a completely generic false crowd noise over top. Too funny.

I find some of the ECW music edits funny, like with Dreamer the odd time you can still faintly hear Layne Staley's voice singing Man in the Box.

I use PS3 or Android and it is indeed a pain. They need to redesign the interface or redo the categories but I need to win the lotto win flying on the back of a pig.

Minor gripe with the documentaries is that you dont get the extras and promos.

There's a documentary on the NXT women due which should be good.

I don't mind the interface on the PS3 at all.

You'd want to see how bad it is on a Roku!

So they obviously hadn't thought of this concept of owning every minute detail of the show and anything to do with the performers at this stage? How things changed.

I was thinking of getting a Roku for Netflix and whatever other stuff. How do you find it aside from the WWE app?

I can't seem to find any shops here that sell them. Neither Power City nor Argos have them.

I got mine from Littlewoods. Do a bit of a snoop online, and you'll find 10% off vouchers :) Oh, and you may get an additional 3 months free voucher for Sky's Now TV service, which i have to say, is chokkers with content.

TBH, i'm not blown away by it. I've had it set up as an Irish Roku (very little in the Roku Store), and now have it running as a US Roku (Had to reset, create a new account and change the DNS Settings on my router via Unblock US. The US Store has an awful pile of stuff, but most of it is either subscription or useless.

The one thing I love about the Roku though is the private listening feature (the remote control has a headphone port, allowing you to listen to your programme in private) - great for when the wife goes to bed early, and she's not to be disturbed!

If I was to go again, i'd pick up an Amazon Fire TV Stick over the Roku, now questions asked, just for the Kodi integration. Ya can't get Kodi on the Roku, but you can get Plex, which is class too in it's own right.

Thanks gerbbad. I was going to buy someone a present of Roku/streaming box as a bit of a bowling ball (shhh! :p). They seem to be hard to find in physical shops.

Also it seems that that on the pc version of the network you can skip 10 seconds forward like you could go back before which is good.

Yeah I was looking at that when watching NXT last night. That wasn't always there before now?

Yeah they were in the opener. I didn't read peoples' reactions to the match but I found it fine.

Now they're just short a Chromecast button.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,166 ✭✭✭Stereomaniac

Is this a really stupid question, I don't know, but what is a Chromecast button? I've no idea.

Allows you to connect a device such as Android tab to aTV that has a Chromecast plugged into it. Chromecast is a small HD dongle. People rave about them but they're only as good as the services which support it. You can "screen mirror" you tablet or phone but it's not reliable for video unless the service is supported. New Japan World desperately needs it but most peeps seem content with using a laptop and HD cable tomconnect to a TV

I've been in Deutschland for a few days. Network doesn't seem to be available over here strangely enough. I realise I should have better things to be doing by the way but I'm getting old.

The laptop or the PlayStation does me. I can see how that thing would be cool though.

If my PlayStation is on, I can "cast" a YouTube video to it from my tablet.

Second that free week's trial from UnblockUs for Germany
