Astra or ibiza

So I'm fighting with myself as to what car to upgrade to!! I do at least 50 miles a day to and from work, but I hav a five year old child so safety is paramount, I wanted a qashqui but found the astra and the Ibiza had better mpg, I hav about €10,000 . anyone any recommendations or no of something better to suit, didn't want to go over 1.5litre or Les than a 2009 for the cheap tax!!! I work wit horses so driving in fields is possible!!!

Do you ever tow stuff?

Cars aren't really designed to be driven through fields, would a bit of ground clearance not make a bit of sense?

Personally I would go Astra. Any experience I or any of my friends/family have had with Seats have been bad

No never tow, but like the height! But I'd only be in fields through the summer for shows, otherwise I hav the quad in work t zoom around!

Yea I'm torn as the seat supposedly has 20 miles more per gallon than the astra!! Which is alot, but I don't no how reliable the mpg s given are

Both cars are not suited for what you may use em for.
And even all round use both are t put a nicer way "dirt"

I am surprised at that, my wife has a 2005 Altea and it is one of the most reliable car we have had either of us.

Look at a Suzuki SX4 or fiat sedici.
It won't have the same clearance as the freeloader but will have more than a standard hatchback.

There's no way an Ibiza does 20mpg more than an Astra unless the Astra is petrol.

I have a 1.4L petrol Ibiza, bought new in 2011. The only trouble it's given so far is that the electric motor for opening the boot died and needed to be replaced. Great car overall, but I wouldn't want to be driving around any fields in it.

OP May I just ask, if your looking to get around fields why are you looking at a astra or ibiza?

I'm not rallying everyday in fields, during the summer months I go to shows and parking is generally always in fields

Ah I see, well I'd advice to go for something like a jeep instead of a car, so you'll be ready for the shows...
