It's a fiver for delivery and they won't be dispatched until at least the 1st week in October.
Reading through reviews on Wiggle, it looks like these may be the ones to go for (for commuting purposes). They aren't in stock at the moment, I'll probably wait for them to come in (although I am in the US next week so might pick up something over there).

They look good for Arctic weather! I have a road bike so not suitable for me. probably get this myself http://www.wiggle.co.uk/sealskinz-winter-cycle-gloves/

any deals on turbo trainers? The beraing is gone in my roller, and it requires a new roller unit apparently. The roller unit is nearly as dear as the turbo!

Picked up 2 "final clearance" long sleeve plain red jerseys today in Lidl for €8.99 each (down from €11.99). Not fleece lined but should be good for the temperatures we're headed into. Got a size L but brought it back and a a M was a prefect fit. Plenty of stock in Bray this evening.

If you didn't get one another way, noticed my local Aldi (Naas, beside the big Tesco) had some, reduced to 2.99

Second hand is the way to go. I paid €115 for mine new last September and have seen virtually new ones on various classifieds sites/FB pages for as low as €50 for the same one.

Evans have decent price on some wheels at the moment. For example, just ordered Zonda for 309 with free delivery

Was looking at those last week but was hesitant as I wanted something that was windproof, are they just a regular long autumn/spring sleeve jersey?

No fleece lining, just regular but at €9 I'm not complaining

I'd say it's a good call that it'll include a cycleputer, too, as Next Island to the Right current Aldi offers include one. But I wouldn't get too excited: I got one last time they had them in, and not only were they even lower spec than the Lidl ones, the one I got didn't work at all. Phoned up the helpline number on the pack and a nice Indian woman a) sounded very unsurprised, and b) just told me to take it back to the shop.

The watchword is: save ye your receipt, and remember the 60-day returns period.

That the wireless or wired ones? They've had both in at different recentish weeks. If it's the wired ones, I'd be very cautious -- had one of those before, and the connector repeatedly ended up in bits. But presumably not everyone's as clumsy as I am...

Mind you, the wireless Lidl ones aren't perfect either... otherwise I wouldn't be looking to replace mine! But I got a couple of years of good service out of it, which is hardly bad for well under a tenner.

Castelli Velocissimo 2 Bib Tights on Sportspursuit for €76 (€84 inc postage)

    http://www.sportpursuit.com/catalog/product/view/id/569986

Looked online and they get good reviews. They are 100 GBP on Wiggle and CRC so you're talking of a saving in the region of €50+ even when postage is accounted for

How are Castelli fo size? I recently went with small for the Vermarc order and they fitted perfectly. Would I be small in Castelli too? Cheers.

By all accounts Castelli are a small fit
In saying that I recently bought a Gabba 2 and went by the Castelli size chart. It fits perfectly. :-)
The size chart for these bib tights had me leaning towards a medium but I went for the large in the end.

Most reviews say to go up a size in Castelli gear, but the thing to bear in mind is it tends to be a tight/racing fit. I got a few bits and pieces of their Summer gear this year and went for my normal size L, the fit is very snug but perfect, I did go up to XL initially but sent them back for my usual size, the XL jersey and shorts did fit more or less fine, but the full length zipper bunched up when I crouched over as if on the bike, shorts were okay but the L definitely fit better. I figure their gear is supposed to fit tight.

The size guide is very close to Small for me. I think I'll chance the Small as I'd rather it be snug than too big.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 8,766 Mod ✭✭✭✭mossym

height was the big one that got me, i could probably fit a M in the jerseys, they would be race fit then. the shorts in an M though it was the straps over my shoulders that wouldn't work. way too tight

Rose in Germany have the Brooks B17 for about 85 euro, plus 8 delivery.

I really like this saddle, though you do need to look after it a bit.

Sorry I know it's not a bargain, but has anyone seen any good "live" deals for tyres or tubes? I'm looking for 25mm puncture proof grippy tyres. Seems like the going rate is around € 40 per tyre for the better ones? Also has anyone got a Wiggle / CRC code maybe?

    Register for free post.

As durable as gp4000, cheaper, much more rugged sidewalls and good grip. 1 puncture in about 15k km using them, a piece of glass

120g penalty or so over gp4000 if that matters to you

He said he wants grippy tyres ;-)

I'd agree with this. Never felt confident with Gatorskins in the wet

    I use these
    http://www.wiggle.co.uk/schwalbe-durano-plus-performance-folding-road-tyre-1/

Cheaper than the gatorskins, and I find them very, very reliable & tough without feeling too heavy

EDIT: the above price obviously better!
