Normally that means not to ship any additional accessories....

Yep, they confirmed it within 30 mins which was nice. They also said 280X ib the original subject! But I confirmed they knew it was VaporX 290 OC too.

To be fair I have always got a swift response, just time zones separating us meant it has taken 5 days for this to go through.

Now to RMA to Czech Republic...

Right lads, shipping card to Czech Republic for RMA. UPS looking for 100 quid to do so... what would be the cheapest way to ship such an item?

Ryanair and hand deliver! There was freight website (like ebay for freight services) that I used years ago to ship some equipment for work) googling should throw it or an equivalent up. Can't remember the the name unfortunately

That seems extortionate. Have you tried the post office to see what they'll do it for registered & insured?

I sent an Adverts package to south of France via an Post a few months ago, it was not a large parcel, it was basically a bunch of cds. Cost me 62.50 euro registered (non reg was 55 so it was a non brainer) and because it was shipped abroad they offered no insurance.

It also took 2 weeks to arrive. Poor enough service. I could have flown to france and back for that kind of money. 30 quid would have been much more reasonable IMO.

UPS/Fedex etc. are huge money. I sent a card to Germany for about €40 tracked parcel service-weight was about 2.5 Kg. Just be wary there is an insurance cap of about €250-300...cant recall exactly but the post office will have info.

Its a decent service as an Post transfer it to German post (DHL), and its fully tracked. Not sure about Czech rep though, you would want to ensure its fully tracked and signed for.

Have you asked them for a pre paid shipping label? Worth trying...

DPD, Fastway and other Irish based couriers may give you a better rate as well.

Thanks, I might be able to get a Fedex 70% discount via work which is another option.

I'll see what An Post gives me anyways.

That seems insane. I semi frequently post stuff to my sister in Italy(never insured mind) and it's never flat more than 20 or 30 quid. They must be a fair bit lighter/smaller(sweets, clothes etc.).

If you're going to be spending crazy money on postage, would it not be just a lot easier to sell the card on adverts for a relatively low price and buy a new one from say, Amazon? At least then you'd have a hassle free, fantastic warranty service as well as a brand new card.

I considered it. The cards have gone up in price however and the exchange rate doesn't help. It's still an option. I'll see how much it costs with an post.

Courier costs from this country appear to be extortionate. Its one of the reasons that puts me off buying parts from the cheaper German websites. I've seen how expensive it can be to return stuff just to the UK nevermind further afield.

Speaking of, just had another experience with amazon customer service today. Ordered stuff tuesday for next day postage. The company that owns my flats have 2 locations very very close to each other but there's only somebody on reception at one of them full time(the other one). Because of this they have an agreemeent with ALL the delivery companies/royal mail to bring any post/parcels to the other site and they distribute it from there. Delivery driver rang me, said there was nobody at reception & when I explained to him he's supposed to bring it to the other site he said "that's fine I'll do that" and hung up.

Obviously he just marked the item as undeliverable and returned it instead, which I only found out today when I went to reception and asked them where the **** my package was. Got on to the live support and because the items were sold by a third party they refunded me the full amount for the order, I ordered again with express delivery for tomorrow by 1pm, and they refunded me the cost of delivery.

Hasn't arrived yet, hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday but I may not get a chance to properly test it until later in the week.

Hrrm. Anyone have info on what the various hard drive manufacturers are like these days?

I'm considering a new storage drive now my new case has arrived and settled in (Fractal Design Define R5 - can't recommend it enough) but there's a few brands showing up on Geizhals I'm not familiar with (Intenso for example) and a few surprising reviews on brands I am familiar with.

For HDD. Western Digital Reds, Greens and Blues are the most recommended. Seagate are a very good alternative.
For SSD. Samsung, Crucial and Sandisk(cheapest) are recommended. Probably should stick HyperX in here too.

These aren't exhaustive lists by any means but these would be the most widely trusted brands.

Helped a friend build his PC through Skype. It actually worked pretty well.

His keyboard hasn't arrived yet so he is stuck with a high end machine he can't use :p

WD Reds, Blacks or Blues. The wind-up time on Greens isn't worth it.

Buying a Samsung SSD gets you the best performance, though my opinion is that you probably will notice the extra €20 you spent more than the speed difference from the Crucial.

Thanks lads, one WD Red 3TB and Crucial BX100 500GB ordered. That should take care of my storage needs for another few years. :)

Don't suppose anyone has something like a GTX750 that's low profile PCB on full size bracket? Willing to swap a new normal GTX750Ti 2GB for one.

I know that the desktop variant of sandy bridge still holds up very well to the more modern chips but how do the mobile processors based on this architecture fare?

I'm running a i3 2350m with 4GB of ram with a SSD. I'm wondering would upgrading to a newer laptop be worth my while or if I should just stick with what I have. I mainly use my laptop for note taking and browsing so nothing intensive.

Sorry I am not answering with a more technical answer but if the laptop is working fine then there is no need to upgrade especially since you only use it for note talking and browsing.

I just knew I shouldn't have jinxed it. Apparently the package has gone missing with UPS

I was hoping someone would have a basic lesser 750, so the 750ti would be an incentive to get a free upgrade....I don't want to be one of 'those' serial swappers on adverts :D

UPS are woeful, they don't seem to care where a package goes as long as it gets delivered to someone, they handed my 980ti to a random on the street who said he knew me(he didn't). UPS told me to contact the seller about what had happened and not them.

Even though it's UPS fault for handing a package to a random person, they are correct in saying that you should have contacted the seller. The seller has the liability of getting the good to you and they are ultimately responsible if it goes missing.

Well you're not gonna believe it, apparently the monitor was delivered to some random person at a different house number who just didn't give it to me.

    They're looking into it now.

Delivery men will have to get their act together delivering to the wrong address is seriously unprofessional. How does it go from here, like you were purchasing a one time deal on a monitor that had a small defect so for some reason I doubt you will get the monitor now and most likely you will get your money back, but if it was me I would have preferred the monitor.

So in this situation - Is the receiver of the monitor now the legal owner of it? Can dabs go after them to get the monitor back? Or is UPS going to be liable for it?
