Carpet before or after fitting wardrobe?

As the title says, do I have carpet laid before or after sliderobe is fitted?

I was told to have it pulled back, didn't fitter said no problem and fitted in on the carpet. It will depend of the carpet/underlay thickness though.

I pull fit wardrobes first. If you carpet first, Then when you eventually change carpet you would have to cut away old carpet and underlay around wardrobe and fit grips etc.
