Yeah I agree they can't have expected anything else, but I reckon they knew the reaction they were going to get would not be pretty - but felt it would be the most effective way of bringing attention to the subject matter of the conference.

look I'm not saying I agree with the way they acted but when they've been raised and developed in an environment where thats the norm, ....

This happened in Paris, in front of a large audience. There is no excuse for thinking this kind of behaviour is the norm.

To be honest, I don't think the reaction where the girls got thumped and kicked was the worst thing about the story.

It is the fact that there can be people in 2015 in France standing in front of a congregation, many who follow their every word, debating whether it is okay or not to beat women. If this happened in any other section of society it would be condemned and criticised and rightly so.

Unfortunately there are sub sections of society, be them religious or cultural who are protected from deserved criticism.

This PC nonsense has to stop.

While initially the concept seems shocking, is it worse than the idea that you can debate with Far Right organizations and thus reduce their appeal, rather than not engaging in the hope that those views will just go away.

Now if the wife beating crowd make a compelling religious/Koranic argument then you have a problem!
In terms of harm reduction, if you can convince a bunch of fundamentalist Muslims that Muhammad didn't want you to beat your wife via a religious message your probably going to help a lot more woman than jumping up on stage with your tits out.

    I'm not saying that their behavior is the norm in everyday society or that it should be allowed to be in theirs, I'm 100% against most of the ways they treat women and I'm all for the PC nonsense stopping I agree wholeheartedly with you there, the only point I was trying to make was how retarded the girls acted. It was only ever going to end the way it did, they weren't just going to stand there and say ''you make a solid point, do you know what i don't think I will beat my wife anymore!'' Unless they were both braindead they knew of course they were going to be met with hostility if they hop up on stage at a bloody Muslim conference with their tits out! ''lets do our best to provoke a violent reaction and then highlight how violent they are''...anyway rant over, and in closing;
    Doesn't matter.
    Saw tits.

Does it not make them brave rather than "retarded", knowing their actions would likely see them getting a kicking at least?

It's unlikely we'd be here discussing them, their actions and conference subject matter if they had stood outside with a placard saying "down with this sort of thing".

    They really are delusional.

He also married a 6 year old when he was 50 but held off on consummating the marriage until the poor girl was nine. Lovely lad really.

Thing is, Muhammed did do it, he punched Aisha on the chest and hurt her. (Obviously she deserved it).

I'm interested that it's being reported that the women attacked at the "wrong" time - as though they should maybe have waited politely to see what conclusion was reached about whether or not it was ok to beat women! FFS! The fact that this was being debated at all, instead of the "against" side just going to the police for incitement to violence is offensive enough to merit protest in my book.

Luckily for us today, not everyone is willing to sacrifice their principles for the sake of personal safety. A lot of very "stupid" people knowingly took huge risks at various times through history, often "stupidly" by your definition, fighting for freedoms we now take for granted.

doing something stupid suggests the outcome is deserved.

Very wrong form of protest. Looks more like a publicity stunt. What was the reason for this ''protest'' anyway and what was suppose to be and outcome after this?

I have a lot more time for Femen and the way they protest than for the Helen Mirrens of this world who choose the safe way to be feminist and attack the harmless every day man (see thread about men putting their arm over the shoulder of their wife/girlfriend)

But you're using two opposing arguments as though they worked the same way. Presumably you aren't proposing we debate with Far Right organizations based on their fundamental premises are you? You're assuming the person debating with them will disagree with them.

Whereas for Muslims, you're proposing looking for arguments that agree with the basic tenets that say you have to do "what Muhammed wanted".

As I said, the problem is that Muhammed did hit his wife. So any argument against wife beating today can't be about what Muhammed wanted but about how unacceptable that is nowadays.

And yet you're suggesting we should give these "debates" serious consideration in the first place. What sort of man are you ? (And I'm certain you are a man!)
