Dash cam ethics

    So my question is what do you see as the ethics of what you film?

    The reason why I'm asking is simply on returning to my own road a man walking down the road with a ladder and no cleaning implements and not a tooth in his head, now to me he seemed quite suspicious and on speaking with my mother who had to deal with him at the door she didn't feel safe.

    Their have been break ins, in the area. What can I do or should I do?

    Not sure what you're asking. Are you asking if you should hand over the film to the Gardai?
    Sure, why not. That fella could be a criminal, or not. At least the Gardai will have footage and a date/time.

    Sort of, I just don't want my presumption to get somebody who just looks dodgy in trouble for no particular reason.

    Can you just e-mail the Garda the footage.

    I know some people would post it on Facebook somewhere.

    Maybe check with local Gardai station to ask was there any recent reports of breakins,

    If so they explain what you saw and that you have footage of what you saw,
    Gardai can check it out if they want...or not.

    Btw, fair play for reporting something dodgy.
    Too many people would just leave it and then moan that no-one does anything about crime..

    You are not going to get someone in trouble for no reason.

    Most that will happen is that if crimes have been committed in the area then Gardai will have proof that individual was in the area with a ladder. If he comes to their attention for it they will be able to compare that to whatever he tells them.
