having a problem with the charger/battery/battery software on my laptop and in not sure which it is, was hoping someone here might be able to help me out.

    so the situation is this,

the laptop is turning off instantly when the charger is unplugged. it is coming up as 86% available battery(plugged in, not charging).

at first i though the battery was just goosed, so i bought a new one. fitted it, same problem.

does anyone know what the problem could be? its driving me up the wall now at this stage, any help[ would be much appreciated

    cheers,

    Eoin

Is the battery permanently showing at 86% or does it charge up?

First thing I'd try is to take the battery out, wipe off the contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and put it back in. There may be enough contact there for the system to see the battery but not enough to transfer any kind of power.

gave it a go, no luck with both old and new battery.

Battery isnt connecting for some reason, if cleaning the contacts didnt solve it theres likely something loose internally or the power delivery circuit is dead. If its economically viable bring it to a repair place.
