Firebird poplar 90 - what condensing boiler matches?

Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone can give me an idea of which type/size of oil fired condensing boiler would be optimum to replace an old oil fired Firebird Poplar 90?

Any links or info appreciated.

Get plumber to size house for boiler first. A popular 90 might have been installed whereas it might have need a popular 120

Thanks guys! Good point about the size too, there is one rad that is the furthest out that never gets more than luke warm, having said that there are only 9 Rads in total, does that sound too many for the original poplar 90 and what would be the equivalent in condensing?

Around a 24kw boiler should do your needs.the system should be powerflushed when a new boiler is been fitted also consider heating controls as there are grants available for those works and can be worth looking into

Thanks, the Grant Vortex Condensing Outdoor Module 50/90 is rated 15 - 26kW from what I can see, would this be good enough or would it be better to go for a 90/120 or would this be overkill and ultimately use more oil needlessly?

15-26 is more than enough. You'd probably get away with setting it at 15 as condensidung boilers work better when slightly undersized. Oversizing a condensing boiler is the worst thing you could do
