Replacing a broken mirror off an Auris?

    Hi lads,
    Not sure if this is the right place but
    anyhow
    My passenger side mirror was damaged from a cyclist today.
    He was coming down the wrong way and hit of my side mirror.
    No big deal only the mirror cracked badly when it fell, the mechanics of it and all is grand so I just bought a new mirror
    But theirs no instructions on how to take it out and replace it.

    The new mirror I got only cost me 12e, Its the same as the car one, but its just the glass on its own with a sticky bit on the back, how do I remove mirror thats in it now, the one thats cracked?

    its an 08 auris, any help would be great :)

    A lot of those ones stick on top of the cracked glass.

    I think normally they just stick on over the old glass.

    Would that not cause it to bulge out abit?

    It will obviously protrude further than the opposite side but in most cases, the mirror is well recessed so unlikely it will overhang the casing . Its either that, or get OEM replacement.

    If you use a heat gun the glass should pull away from the plastic backing which leaves you with a clean surface to stick the glass to

    those replacements are usually convex and are designed to go over the glass rather than onto the plastic. If you take the glass off you'll have a lip all the way around and it won't be possible to stick the glass onto the plastic.
