Anyone up in the air about what card vendor to go with, EVGA have the best aftersales/RMA I have ever dealt with. One of my cards was making a clinking noise at low rpm, so they shipped a replacement the same day they received mine; it landed within 8 days of starting the RMA. Proper customer service.

Yeah, not the first time i've read praise for their aftersales, think i'll be opting for them next time around.

Check out the acer z35 😀

Looks fantastic but will probably cost around €1500 and will need a pair of 980ti's to run. Great for those who can afford it.

Just had my first issue with windows 10.I'm liking it until today.

My motherboard has a dual bios switch. So i flipped to bios B to update it to a different version to test and now windows needs to be activated again :mad:
It seems to think my second bios was a different motherboard so it has blocked my key.Wtf is all i can say as i never had that issue when using 8.1 and dual bios.

I upgraded from a 8.1pro which was bought from microsoft and not a key from reddit.

Any ideas of what to do as i dont want to have to go back to reinstall 8.1 and then 10 again?

Looks like any motherboard/cpu change with windows 10 deactivates the install. You need to contact Microsoft apparently. Good luck with that.

I'd understand if i had changed the motherboard but just changing the bios is nuts if thats the cause for it not been activated anymore.
Microsoft site is not getting me anywhere with this atm.

I'm assuming its a completely different bios chip that you're switching the traces to. Windows 10 activation involves a hardware ID based on the bios and the cpu type. I think it also drops a file onto the write cache of a UEFI bios. Changing the CPU, motherboard, or upgrading the bios will cause it to deactivate. While it reactivated on its own, I personally wouldn't keep flicking that switch. There will be a activation limit. Might be the same thing catching out those reddit MSDN keys.

Quick question, friend of mine is working in africa periodically and when he is over there he is geo blocked from RTEPlayer,Netflix etc

Hes mostly working but would love to watch the news, movie,TV and such for an hour or two when he gets the chance but the geo lock is preventing him. Is there anyway around this?

He will be using a laptop or phone,he has no access to the router or any way of changing the settings there. Ive no idea how to go about it so hoping someone here can help. If he could access irish netflix he would be delighted as hes paying for it here when hes over there. Thanks

I use Private Internet Access, and find it very good. Some of the free VPN's can be a bit patchy IMO. It costs 40 USD a year, and is ideal as you can do about 20 regions including Ireland.

Pure VPN is another great one: https://www.purevpn.com/

Has anyone used a watercooling pump in a bitfenix prodigy case? I've been trying a few pumps in it and no matter what pump I try I get an awful vibration/buzzing noise that is headache inducing.
I'm just curious did anyone have the same issue.

I had a D5 in a Prodigy. Didn't get any vibration. It wasn't hard-mounted to anything though. It was sitting on the bottom of the front on a load of foam (about an inch).

Only thing you can do is seat it on foam and make sure any other hard fixings retaining it are vibration-insulated using foam/grommets to remove any uninterrupted rigid link between the pump and the case.

Beyond that, check to make sure the pump is the culprit and not something else, possibly something that alters its behaviour when normal cooling measures are supplanted by WC. Case fans having a temper tantrum and going max RPM etc. Also make sure all the soft feet/pads are still there between the case and whatever it is sitting on :p

When I had a w.c pump it used to buzz when it touched the case. Try Sitting it on top of a soft silicone block or something similar, or suspend it from rubber bands

Anyone have any RMA experience with Mindfactory? My Asrock Extreme6 decided to crap itself and I sent it off last Friday, really hoping it won't take long to get back to me.

I never thought of insulating the rad's and other bits the hard tubing touch.
It causes the noise even when no fans are on, they barely spin btw.
I believe I was using soft tubing at one point and still had the very loud buzzing/vibrating noise.

Pump could just be loud or off balance. I had a pump for years which I thought was just meant to be that loud, until I got a new one and realized it was vibrating due to the prop being off center.

I have my pump sitting on one of these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=WC-000-MM

Who here using Bitlocker , other types of encryption or UEFI / BIOS / Firmware passwords? Especially on laptops tablets and mobile phones? Becoming a bit paranoid lately...

I tried bitlocker once on my windows desktop. To cut a long story short it worked but my computer didn't play nice with it (surprise surprise). Following a reboot after enabling bitlocker I was greeted with an orange and white striped screen like below:

I could still type in the password that I had set despite having nothing to look at. I just typed and hoped and thankfully it worked out. Immediately disabled it.

I'd try and use soft tubing from the pump to the res to cut down on the vibrations.
I've also used the shoggy sandwich and its great at reducing the noise.

What pumps have you tried and are you using a 90 degree fitting as an inlet/outlet on the pump?
Are the pumps quiet in other cases?

Has anyone here ever bought from PC Specialist? I'm thinking of going for a Lafité laptop for college... Just wondering how they are for customer care etc?

Few fake cards turning up on adverts lately.

Got stung myself with one a while back, good seller with loads of feedback so didn't pay too much attention, second I opened the box and saw the card I knew instantly it was a fake. He refused to take it back and denied it was fake and I had to open a paypal dispute. Got my money back though.

I've tried three pumps ek 4.0, 2.0 and a D5 pump, all are completely silent outside the case running perfectly.
D5 on one in the case is nuts, on 5 outside the case I can't hear it.
I really think I will have to replace the hard tubing :(

I've bought from them but never needed customer service, but I hear it's pretty good. They also offer pretty decent extended collect and return warranty for a reasonable price, think it's about €90 extra.

I suppose it's part of the value but a lot of their laptops are very unremarkable in appearance and would easily be mistaken for much cheaper laptops.
