Ford Focus Dual Mass Flywheel

I have recently purchased a 09 1.8 TDci Focus. In the past couple of days, I have noticed a bit more vibration than usual when stopped at traffic lights and a slight sound coming from the engine bay, a whirring sort of noise (when clutch is not engaged and car is stopped).

I said this to a mechanic and he said it could possibly be an issue with the flywheel. Has anybody else has symptoms similar to this or what else should I look out for if I have problems with the flywheel? Car is under warranty for 6 months anyway but just looking for some general feedback from other owners. I've heard it can be a common problem with Mark II Focus'

Are you sure the whirring noise is not from the electric power steering?

When you switch the engine off you should hear that sound for a couple of seconds.

Maybe whirring is the wrong word, more of a slight rattling sound I guess. There is also a slight chug when starting the car. There are no sounds from anywhere after the engine is switched off. The car is taking a second longer to start than what it should also, which I also heard could be related to the flywheel.

Sounds like the flywheel alright. The 1.8 engine in your Focus is particularly hard on the DMF.

Doubt warranty would cover dmf. Classed as a wear part these days.
