Can anyone give me some insight into the training process for Revenue? How long is it and is it very tough? Supposed to start on Mon but still undecided as pay is not great and I am taking a step back from area I am qualified in.

I finished Revenue training end of June. PM me any questions you have and I'll answer as best I can.

Do you have any idea how many people they are calling in this region?

No I asked but they said they have to wait and see what positions they get from each department so they don't know yet

Fair play Imdke, least the agonising wait is over for you. And good that things are moving again.

What date were you informed you passed the interview, and how long after that did they ask to contact your references?

If you get any inside info on how many vacancies will be in kilkenny let me know.

I did the interview on the 30th of June & got word I passed on the 8th of July, my referees were contacted back on the 10th of July but then my application was delayed by a week or so as I had to do a medical questionnaire & get a letter from my doctor (I had minor surgery last year & they just needed clarification that I am fully recovered). I don't have the start sate yet but will let you know if I hear any more!

When they ring you, do they ring off a private number does anyone know? Had a missed call from a private number earlier. Doubt it was them but stranger things have happened!

An 01 number has always shown up when they called me.

If you get called regarding references, does that mean you are lined up for a job?

More or less. You could still be waiting weeks to start though.

Mine was a private number. Missed a call in the morning. No voice mail. Then they rang back back in the afternoon

Yes, once your references are ok then you are put on a panel to fill the vacancies as they arise in your region. It could still take a while before you get an actual offer, it just depends on the number of roles coming up in the area!
    Best of Luck

Why would they call a candidate about references when they've already given them at the interview stage?

They are just letting you know they will be contacting them.

It's says 18 on the website.
Is that a special rate for revenue I wonder

It's a Revenue rate. €15 per week. They'll tell you about it at your induction. TCO's get a letter but I think full time staff can use their badge to buy tickets.

No nothing about that just checking contact details for references-not sure if I will take anything in that region, it depends on the location and driving distance!

Started training for revenue today. Although I will be based in Tralee, I have to do 22 weeks training in Cork, this will be very tough with travel and accommodation costs. Did anyone else have to do so much training in a town far away?

That sounds like alot of extra time and hassle. Do you get any allowance or anything for all that travel?

I'm really confused by the whole process-how have I gotten called before you if I am behind you in order of merit????

Curious any momentum for anyone from Dublin this week? 1120 myself. Few weeks since the call for references, (I realise it may be for longer more!)

It could be a delay in vetting. It seems to be a common enough thing.
