it's abuse of tax systems to line their pockets...is that not enough for ya? this is a thread about apple and it's tax arrangements here

Ireland and Apple will fight this one tooth and nail.

Apple are very committed to Ireland, especially their HQ in Cork.

The amount of money they have spent on their Campus in Cork in the last few years is massive, they have added huge numbers of jobs very quietly, and intend on adding many more over the next few years.

19 billion lasts us .5 of a year and Apple pulls out with all its jobs and goes to a 1st world country.

Great, so tell me, what's wrong with paying correct taxes?

No. How do you think they availed of the deal in the first place? You can't blame a company for wanting to pay less tax. Especially when government hand it to you on the plate, 'nice and legal like.'

It's an incentive to locate here, like many other countries offer.
Better here than Scotland, though I get the dodgy ethics of it.

All them crummy IT companies need to high tale their asses out of our country. We're not functioning with this crap and low taxes sh*te. Ireland needs to build an export economy focused on production and manufacture. What like Germany does. Lets the indians deal with this IT crap. What are we? the indians of Europe? Working for nothing.

What's sustainable about companies that can leave ?

If these companies want to operate here, pay the taxes...no excuse, they are low enough rates.

If the European Union finds Apple delinquent the U.S. will declare a tax "holiday" equal to the Irish corporate tax rate and Apple will probably just send the money home rather than pay tax in the EU.

We are a 1st world country!!!!

By definition Ireland is Third World; being neutral or unaligned.

People really don't understand the simple concept of jobs these companies give.

Who cares if they pay 0 tax, they create jobs for thousands which is beneficial to any country.

Even if we made nothing from them at all, we save by not paying the dole to a few thousand people.
say 5000 people have jobs, thats €940,000 a week (plus any extras like rent allowance etc) that the government is not spending.

Well Apple has been here since 1980 so hardly fly by night. If the commission finds against Apple we still have the low 12.5%.

However mint aero wants all IT companies to go to India regardless. In the meantime he wants us to invent local indigenous industries to compete with Germany.
