It has been announced that Ireland is to triple the amount of Syrian refugees they are letting in.
Does this mean that the housing waiting lists and homeless people here are a figment of our imagination?

An unused hotel in Laois is being utilized I believe to house the first arrivals

So many empty houses around the country. Id rather give them to these families rather than the scum of the earth that will eventually get them for free anyway.

Over 1000 people had signed up to a site yesterday to offer a bed to a refugee. In less than 3 hours...

who cares. We will squeeze them in somewhere. Better than leaving them where they are

So everyone on the housing list is a piece of scum?
Should you not be back on class at this time?

Plenty of empty houses around here too, there's no shortage of housing in Ireland, it's a shortage where people choose to live.

    Yes, it does.

As we are offering help in a humanitarian crisis it means that there are no waiting lists, because obviously the two issues are directly linked. Some say they are fighting the war in Syria just to screw around with the Irish housing list. So it's a great point.

    Is that what I said?

I live in a quiet estate...what used to be a quiet estate before two of these families moved in (or should I say they were relocated) given a free house The whole place has changed big time over the last year, I can't leave a window down in my car on a hot day for fear it would be robbed, the noise they make at all hours, the parties, the degenerates that associate with them, their horrible kids, the mess they leave everywhere. They don't give a sh1t.

So yeah I'd sooner have refugees there.

From my time in Egypt I remember seeing so many clapped out, ruined Nissan Sunny's & Mazda 323s....

.... So, Roscommon it is then.

Where are we going to put the refugees?

To work, in our underground sugar caves?

Hopefully they will be staying in the houses of those who are advocating that they come here.

20k at a minimum?? Is this guy on drugs? Happy pills? Has he been watching the news for the last few years in Ireland?

Will the government be using this "independent" campaign site to house asylum seekers?

Taoiseach says Ireland may accept more than 1,800 refugees
    It was initially 600.

Your tarring everyone with the same brush tho. Very judgemental.
Who's to say the refugees won't do the same as the 2 families that have moved in beside you?
Your generalising. I'd say you have an opinion on most "groups".
Maybe, just maybe you were unlucky to get the 2 families you did.
There are a few families in my estate that were given their houses for free and they don't fit the stereotype you judge everyone on.
Also if you don't want the scum getting the houses and you would rather refugees getting them, please tell us who are the scum?

Typical Irish. Not a bad thing to offer beds etc but what about our homeless here? not sexy enough for people?

And how long do people expect the refugees to stay with them? Will it be rent free. What about food, clothes, education, cash for living?

And exactly where are we going to put them. Disused hotels in Leitrim? Why should they accept that, they don't accept that they have to stay in Hungary so you can bet that they will want to housed close to each other, not too far from the local town.

So where to get these houses? The local authorities don't have them. Or maybe, we can kick out anybody currently getting SW rent for over, say 2 years, to make way for these more deserving people.

We are already spending huge amounts of money on foreign aid and now the Navy vessels in the Med.

Do we give full rights to them when they arrive or simply stick them in the direct provision nightmare we have created. Do they get access to schools, healthcare.

By all means, bring them over here to let them get some sort of calm after the horrific experience they have been through. After 6 months they either go back home or back to the first country they entered the EU. Thats the law, its the law we all have to deal with and simply throwing yourself on a railtrack or refusing to get off a train that doesn't go where you want it to go doesn't change that.

No, he's talking about two individual families.

How many mosques do we need to cater for these 1800 Muslims? Who will pay for their construction?

There are no free houses in Ireland.

In the interest of internet hysteria, there are free houses.

Exactly, home them in housing estate/neighbourhood of every Labour, Sinn Fein, Socialist Party, PBP and Fine Gael TD and we'll how keen these politicians are on multiculturalism.

Of course, that won't happen, they'll be dumps in working class areas and we'll be on the road towards having the same social problems Sweden, France and the UK are having.

The Saudi royal family usually stump up for those types of things.

There are plenty of properties lying vacant across the country that could be used.

And before anyone says it, of course these should be open for use by our own homeless too.

I see no reason why both groups shouldn't be accommodated if they want to be.

I say we should deport any of the ungrateful bastards who are currently in Direct provision reception centres and complaining about the conditions and how Irish People are feeding and clothing them and also giving them money and free health care and education and we will have plenty of room for this new intake!
