I just received a letter from An Post asking for an invoice for a dress I bought from China. Apparently they're holding my package until they receive the invoice at which point they'll post it out to me and I'll have to pay import duty/tax.

How much will I have to pay on a package that cost €52 including postage? I need to have a rough idea before the dress is delivered to me.

I'd anyone could help I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you! Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Not sure about how duties are calculated, I see 18% mentioned http://www.dutycalculator.com/, but VAT will be "Adults’ clothing, irrespective of size, is liable also at 23%", which is why they're waiting on the invoice for the price you paid.

    23% VAT on (items+postage) + €0 duty (below limit) + €5 an post fee= €16.96
