Surely bench-marking a European leader against an African one would be forlorn no?

I'm not disputing the man is sleazy, what Italian man isn't, but there is a certain hypocrisy in other Europeans slamming him when their own leaders are just as sleazy. They might not be as overt as him but they are just as sleazy.

Are you for real? Would you be happy to pay your taxes to a government whose head selected some of their representatives (MEPs etc) on their ability to give bl@wj?bs? Would you like to pay taxes to a govt who made it easier for companies to sack employees on a whim? Who cut funding for schools? A man who has known links to Mafia organisations and P2? Really? It's not just a question of him being sleazy (though I really doubt that other EU leaders are quite so sleazy), the man had shIItty policies, Italy was corrupt as fúk under him, and he is a known criminal.

Also lol at 'what Italian man isn't sleazy?'...

Jackie Healy Rae had a similar rainbow comb over to Silvio as well as a similar nod and wink culture and nobody batted an eyelid. It's easy to cast judgement from afar but when you take a look closer t home you realise we aren't all that different.

Lol - ypu are seriously comparing JHR to Berlusconi. They're nothing alike in terms of corruption!!

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

He is many things, but a clown he is not. A well educated man who built a massive media empire.

I think the reason so many people latch on to his 'personality' is because he is completely non conformist or non PC.

Its also worth keeping in mind that though Berlusconi is corrupt and probably dangerous, compared to a leader like Giulio Andreotti was (or at least the image Andreotti has, these things are very hard to prove) he's a harmless puppy.

Yeah and I'm sure the women you and your friends **** over are beautiful mature women!

So you **** over teenage girls, albeit legit ones.

Good man. Nothing wrong with that. Insisting that everyone does is where you are wrong though.

Yes because when you jerk it, you're watching movies of 'beautiful mature' women. Sure mate.

So true - everyone's taste in everything is the exact same, and anyone claiming to have a different taste is lying.

Also, if only it wasn't a case of just women in their teens/early 20s max. and "mature" women in their late 30s/40s and no women aged in between.

Poor Old Jakey, surrounded by pics of 17 year olds and used tissue as age advances. I think his image of older men is based on Kevin Spacey's character in American Beauty!

Are there actually straight men here ridiculing other men over sexual attraction to young adult women ?? Jesus christ.

Fair play to Berlusconi and his zest for life at 70 odd. Sounds like better fun than men less than half his age. Certainly less of a drainer than some of the commentators here.

But there's the whole corruption thing. It's disingenuous to pretend this is just about begrudging Berlusconi having fun/perving on teenage girls (bet it would be considered sad by non powerful men his age).

I think the ridiculing thing came from men telling other men they fancy girls in their teens and were lying if they said they didn't. Nothing wrong with men fancying teenage girls and very young women but it's not as commonplace as is being insisted here.

I'd be more concerned with his domination of the media, his links to serious corruption and his reveling in wealth and privilege in a country where if your young unless your lucky your only choice if you don't want a life in limbo or poverty is to leave than if he's got an eye for young ladies (it is symptomatic of the wealth and privilege thing though)

    Nope.

    Read them again.

And the last paragraph of Cold War Kids last post, which helpfully spells it out for you.

Why do you and Old Jakey reach for the gay angle? Surely we are a few decades beyond the "no interest in a 17 year old? Must be gay" stuff?

Andreotti was a criminal gangster príck as well.

    Berlusconi is Berlusconi.
    A clown.
It's the saddos thinking he's the man that are more pathetic.

Serious question. Berlusconi is one of the world's top business men. He has friends in top places. He is a very influential and powerful man

Do you think he would have rolled over like a pet Labrador, the way Cowen did?

Would you call him a clown if he saved this country from economic destruction?

In the period 2000-2010 only Haiti and Zimbabwe had lower GDP growth than Italy.

Thats my point Androtti was worse, he just didn't portray this clown like image that Berlusconi does.
And to be fair, Berlusconi does it well, he's a Bertie at 1000%

Yes it is a little odd when you think about it, 'straight' men claiming they're not attracted to young women...Anyway I sure wouldn't mind attending one of his parties!

Well, is it really that surprising that someone who thinks Berlusconi is a "LEGEND, LOL" would come out with guff like this?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,115 ✭✭✭✭Junkyard Tom

I wonder would the 'he's a legend' gang be so turned on by the likes of SB if they found out some old guy was riding their 17-year-old sister.

    I don't wonder really.

With all due respect, you can't back up that claim. It would require some kind of mass worldwide survey on the male mind. Would anybody go to those lengths for something so trivial? :)

Well going by anecdotal experience, most guys who are mid 20s onwards whom I know wouldn't be interested in women aged 17 to very early 20s, because they consider them annoying more than anything. That doesn't mean they'd consider the attractive ones unattractive but they're not going out of their way to "pull" them. There's more to men's brains than how some of their fellow men like to depict them.

I took your cue from "fancying" and reduced it to the most base level of attraction/lust, I believe it was fair to do so, going by that.

I'd have a few anecdotes to support that myself, from men of all ages and of course I know personally what a cesspit the male mind can be at times. :pac:
