Probably the only one I like, Andy Richter is great too.

Jimmy Fallon is alright but that's about it for me.

haha, the fact that ryan turbridy is even included as an option is hysterical.

Yeah, I was hesitant on putting him there. He really should be in Other.

Conan head and shoulders above the rest in the U.S. imo. Being on cable gives you that bit more creative freedom.

Fallon seems like a guy picked so he doesn't upset anyone. Always giving that obvious fake laugh and every story he hears he says 'that's amazing, amazing' while clapping. His games are good though, if a little gimmicky.

Graham Norton is class too, best in the UK by a long shot.

Ireland has nobody who is remotely talented for Late Night.

I loved the fight between Conan, Stewart and Colbert. Tv gold that was.

    Probably Tubbs himself.

Conan by a distance. Colbert's very good but he's playing a character.

Agree with RedemptionZ, Fallon is a very safe choice. I'm not a fan of James Corden's comedy and Bill Maher strikes me as an incredibly smug bastard.

Stephen Colbert. He's a relative of Con Colbert who was shot in 1916.

Conan, Kimmel, and Oliver are good.
haven't seen Colbert's new show yet.
Bill Maher used to be ok but has come out with plenty of paranoid right-wing nonsense lately.
Jimmy Fallon is awful, his fake laughing and getting excited at everything is incredibly annoying.

Up until now Colbert played a character. He seems to be a really great guy but until he's doing his new show out of character. I couldn't give this to him.

I wanted to go for Conan O'Brien. His old Late Night Show was amazing. The best that's ever been in my opinion. At least in terms of the traditional late night format. In the last few years, I think his act has got a little stale. When he was on Late Night his stuff was so obscure and crazy. Now that he went through the Tonight Show, he seems to have lost that. He spends too much time trying to relate to the kids that he's not relatable at all....when he had things like the Evil Puppy or the Punk Rock Cow, he was much more relatable.

I gave the nod to John Oliver. He did a great job on the Daily Show as host.. He's very different in his new show and doesn't interview guest but his show is very powerful. He's actually not the best host on it. But he's still likable

Yeah, well he is pretty damn tall. :)

I like Jimmy Fallon a lot, doesn't have any pretenses about him and a good interviewer. Good house band too.

He also likes a good sniff judging by this interview. :pac:

Conan by a country mile. I was watching him back in the network days before any of you did. I was watching him first and thought it was great stuff first before everyone here.

Bill Maher followed by John Oliver and Conan

I actually really wanted to vote John Oliver, but it had to be Conan. ;)

I was watching Conan back in the days of NBC Super Channel. Remember that? Remember NBC Super Channel? Only 90's kids remember, what do kids growing up today have? Nothing, that's what.

I know he just retired, but still think Jon Stewart should be option.

Will do. I just need to figure out how to that though. Now I am thinking maybe I should put Letterman on as well...

All crap. Who wants to watch a knob interviewing a knob? I'd rather castrate myself with a blunt potato peeler.

You've got to go to radio to get a proper talk show host. Nick Abbot would wipe the floor with any of the options on that poll, as would Scottie McClue.

I noticed myself lately. I guess it happens to a lot of people when they get old & cranky they start moving to more & more to the right. Unless of course you're Tony Benn. He was never all that funny tho Bill Maher I just liked the premise of his show & the mix of guests on it.

I don't think it starts for another week or 2.

I loved the Colbert Super Pac thing, that was great TV.

Or the fact that Tubs is included, and Woss is not even mentioned :)

Shame Parkinson has retired, David Frost (deceased) too.

So...only American talk show hosts are any good? I find it hard to even listen to a lot of them, and there's something very fake and contrived about the shows.

Know he has always had his critics but for me Letterman was the greatest late night host as there was no other show I would rather see a guest appear on than his, for the simple reason that he let people speak and gave them room to do whatever they wanted to without constantly interrupting them, as so many hosts did/do. His next question almost always followed on from what the guest had just said also and so interviews tended to flow better. Nothing mire jarring to watch someone be interviewed and the almost everyone question has little or nothing to do with what the guest has just said. Letterman's interviews for that reason seemed more like conversations. Had his critics for sure but that's the problem with so many late night hosts, they're too busy trying to be all things to all people. Letterman did his own thing really and wasn't all that bothered if a guest liked him or not. Jimmy Fallon for example, sucks up to guests. Never asks a tough question. That creasing up and slapping off the desk as if someone has said the funniest thing in world gets old real quick too.

Love Conan also. Should have been given more time with the Tonight Show.

Speaking of which. Here's Conan appearing on Letterman after the Leno u-turn debacle.
Course, lot of history here as Letterman pretty is responsible for Conan have a career and Leno and Letterman had their own beef many moons back too.

Yeahhhhh.....Graham Norton is all on the fly. Will Smith never planned to rap and dance with his son. It was all on the spot :pac:

I'm with you but not targeting American talk shows. It's awful television when the stories are all rehearsed and transparent. I like when Norm MacDonald is a guest....he has a reputation (on all shows but Letterman because he respected him too much), he would go to rehearsal with his stories and then when recording would go in a completely different direction.

It got to the point, that when he's on Conan now they don't even bother with rehearsal. It makes it so much better

But in Ireland, England, US, Australia, Germany etc. it doesn't matter it has to be contrived...famous people aren't all that interesting under the surface. They have nothing to say. The shows exist to advertise movies, music etc. But that's not unique to America. It just so happens that the shows are on every weeknight over in the US..
