Nothing wrong with that. Not speaking of this case as I don't know the facts herewith not withstanding there in present of.

Plenty of little upstart children around that want a good hiding from their parents. A slap a the lawsuit across the face is just as effective.

What a load of rubbish. So she tried to sue the mother and it was thrown out so instead she is going to try and Sue the 6 year old.

Woman needs to get the hell over it and get on with her life.

How is a child responsible, It's the parent and that already got thrown out.

The secret to good parenting, regular beatings by the age of 6.

If you are reduced to physically punishing a child you have failed as a parent.

I do love the hippy approach of doing nothing and seeing if the brattishness will pass.

Yep, it's unfortunate that beatings and doing nothing are the only two options available.

So no alternative exists in your world between violence and doing nothing?

The child turned suddenly in front of the woman and caused her to fall. Jesus Christ, I thought it was going to say she stuck out her leg and tripped her on purpose. Good luck with that !!

I said it before and I'll say it again, teachers can't slap kids...if that's what kids are used to at home they'll laugh in the teachers face in school, because they know they'll do them no physical harm. I've seen it time and time again!

Snow joke. The child was acting flaky and the woman's having a meltdown. It's all downhill from here. I'd be piste off.

I guess you dont teach english :P

granted there is a middle but when it comes to the bleeding hearts who equate a simple smack to GBH, child abuse, vicious assault etc. A smack is harmless. Punching and booting them around a room obviously bad but a smack to discipline is not bad.

What was the woman doing skiing up behind a novice child? Tut!

So is a hiding a beating or a single smack?

So now all kids that misbehave don't get hit and the good ones get the crap beaten out of them at home?

    No....the opposite actually!

Nope, the good ones have probably been raised properly. And defiantly not been told they are special snow flakes from day one with zero consequences for their actions.

    No....the opposite actually!

Personally I don't lay a hand on my kids, there is other ways, parents that give a single smack that's their call, but some do it for nothing.

Thats it though isnt it. Daft lady cant see that shes the adult and should have expected a child to be wobbly or unpredictable. Did noone ever explain to her that sometimes Bad Things Happen and noone is to blame?

We now live in a world where everyone else is to blame with no personal responsibility.

What about the wife? Can I give her a "harmless smack" if she misbehaves?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,178 ✭✭✭Mena

This is probably less about suing the child or parent and more about unlocking the parents liability insurance.

Yeah this old chestnut. What's your wife and a child that has no reasoning got in common ? You know and no sense of danger.

if you consider yourself in such a position of authority over your wife that you feel comfortable dictating to her whether or not she is 'misbehaving', you have other issues.

The woman suing is desperate to squeeze some money out of someone. That is all.

Did she not have her own holiday insurance for example ?

Kid should counter sue the woman for falling over her.

Which usually covers your medical expenses but doesn't compensate you for emotional distress etc. Or earns you some extra pocket money.

Why would a child's reasoning understand why you hit them and how to avoid it in future if they can't understand any other punishment?

I don't understand why one human in a house is fair game for violence and another isn't.

Poorly worded on my part, but the focus of your reply just avoids the real question.
