I'm guessing the other person that died was the camera man?

It's not graphic but it's horrible hearing and seeing the absolute fear from the journalist in their last few seconds.

Yeah the cameraman and the interviewer. Why is it that you just wouldn't see this kind of stuff in another western developed nation?

Queue the NRA saying if the cameraman and reporter had guns on them it wouldn't have happened.

RIP, hopefully something will be done about the gun laws.

This is awful. Really hope the victims loved ones weren't watching at the time. Seems utterly senseless.

So the person being interviewed wasn't killed, just the interviewer and camera man.... weird

It says that the cameraman that was shot dead was 27 and a graduate from Virginia Tech. That was the scene of a mass shooting spree in 2007 so it would be likely that he was a student there at the time too.

The US really needs to have a serious bout of inward inspection and debate about their gun laws.

The reporter was only 24 :(

    That was brutal to watch!

They need their guns taken off them until they can own them and use them in line with other normal rational western countries.

Still of gunman. Hard to know what to say about such a mindless act of violence.

The viewers watching that report live must have got a terrible shock. RIP to the poor victims.

Probably more a "WTF" at that time. One of the Irish papers put the video up on facebook before it was revealed that anyone had died, and to me it just looked like someone was shooting and everyone legged it.

Hearing they'd died makes the video more chilling because it's obvious the cameraman has been hit while the interviewer is still OK. He must have shot her a few seconds later :(

Chances are the studio were still recording the feed even after they'd cut away so hopefully that will be some assistance to the police.

WTF drives people to just go out and kill like that? Completely pathetic pricks.

    Was he not caught yet?
    Mental illness.

If you're lining up to shoot a cameraman of all people, and during a live broadcast too, then you really don't care about being caught.

Just shows how cheap life can be and how easily it can be snuffed out. Two normal nice looking people killed on the whim of a madman. Makes you think, you just don't know what's coming next.

I thought that American live television was broadcast with a 7 second delay for swearing and stuff and indeed murderous shootings.

    shocking.....

probably was 7 seconds behind to be honest, took them a couple to work out what was happening.

anything on the woman who was being interviewed, was she left untouched?

Shot in the back apparently. Critical, but likely to recover.

She was shot in the back. Reports were that she too died but appears to be in surgery now.

It looks like he is wearing a mask, clear difference between hands/neck and face colour. Also judging by his clothes/boots he was clearly dressed and prepared to do this so I doubt it was completely random.

:confused::confused::confused: looks like its a clear human face without a mask and his hands/face look the same complexion.

The reddit overreaction machine started claiming it was a mask. A mixture of shadows and a dodgy camera still and people started claiming it was "clearly" a mask

They probably weren't hovering over the dump button for that segment to be fair.

Sadly, I think America's love affair with guns will never have a turning point. RIP to the victims of this terrible event.

Just thinking out loud here but is this kind of stuff really primarily an American phenomenon or is it just that the US is so media heavy that it seems like that it's only really the US that this stuff occurs in? Like are kids sshooting up their schools in Turkmenistan every few months but we simply don't hear about it?
