Most US markets have 'recovered' to only be down 1-1.5% at the moment.

Hopefully they keep recovering and china has a good return overnight...might be a buying opportunity now?

lol, goodluck with that. this is only getting started bud

I recall you posting this Thurs around 5pm S&p was at 2050. While the low on the open was extreme this afternoon, i assume you had all day to get out or have a stop?

    Two words: Loss aversion.

I think we will see higher and will hold for that.

If you see the timing of my posts, Sat night i could feel something major was up after the week we had.

Interesting day (#) or cash tag EUR/USD seems to be the current phenomenon internet wise rather than individuals analysing. Great day none the less.

I'm approaching burnt out at this stage, but it's possible. 1.17/8 is plummet zone.

I certainly wouldn't be going long here. I'll concentrate on aussie for now.

Not an environment I'm comfortable going asleep to anymore. China and fair dincum bloody Australians print at 2 or 5:30am. It's gone completely random with China now but its probably oversold.

Been waiting for aussie to reach this level for months. If this area holds, we could see major rally in commodity space.

    Hi dasdog,
Did you follow through on your EUR/CAD idea?
Good for you if you did.

Good for you if you did.

It was far too complex, politics never even came in to it. West Texas Intermediate inventories in the US were used up and the economy flip a coin grew or shrunk depending on wider factors. Should have stayed with it but closed on about a grand or 200 pips.

    0.716, time to buy AUS.

Closed for about €45, sleep won the argument.

EDIT: Fuk that, as was said in Blazing Saddles "You're on your own son"

I'm looking at it from the point that stock exchanges usually over do it upside and downside when they go and generally (in my experience) tick back after. I thought we'd see some reflection overnight that it was a bit overdone.

I'm not calling back to normality...I still see a lot of volatility over the next few weeks...so buying dips and selling bounces.

Just gotta watch for any potential bad news coming out (German business confidence rose in Aug (obv taken before the china fall).

think there could be a little lower to go to see a bottom :(

Although dont see that happening today

I see this as a long term trade if the support holds. Probably talking weeks or months. Just my trading style.

Russell has held so far so I am not so sure of 1750 mark anymore. Could see return to previous battle ground. I wouldn't be betting in getting there though.
We have probably seen the highs of the year now.

true...but on the basis the FTSE hit highs back in April of circa 7100 vs 6050 now i think theres plenty of room to make money (as long as you can sweat the volatility)

I hear you. Was starting to take a safer approach after a really great day, aside from a USD/JPY sell closed just before the collapse.

China just cut rates. Not going to get as involved today but I'm back in with this @ 0.723.

    EDIT:
Don't have the cojones for this today, closed -16.0 pips. Yet to digest yesterdays information let alone today's.
Closed both +3.7 & +5.2. Done for now, need to take a step back.

Going long EUR/USD again. Medium term trade. Could eventually see 13500 - but will enter and exit as usual.

The dow is on craic today big swings and im only trading 0.87 per point, done a few quick scalps but im out, the nerves would be shot doing any more.

I don't scalp any more. Way too much stress and always saw it as a bit of a crap shoot. What instruments do you use for scalping?

I use the 5 minute candlesticks and look at the moving avearges.
Got to say i actually like the stress but it can wear u out after 5-6 hours, i try and do 2 hrs in the morning again after 2pm and then before the u.s closes and again when the Aus market opens.
Only back trading again after a few months, 3rd week in.

Bloody hell, I wouldn't do more than a few in a session. Well done though.

Decided to step in with some relative safety. Yen appears to be the more resilient of the two as the dollar buy back occurs (although it may be temporary). Short EUR/JPY when it broke 137 (136.956), stop at break even, no target yet.

    EDIT
Closed +5.1, dollar yen at key 120, not worth the risk.

    EDIT 2
Looks to be some movement again with JPY and EUR starting to tick against USD. Opened two small positions of each.
