Yea. Wife is on that plan. The plan I'm on suits my needs, and the 15 unlimited plan has to be topped up monthly. Prefer to put the credit on in one go and forget about it. I also got the s4 mini free when signing up gave it to the wife for Christmas.

For €10 a month with 48 you can get 300 mobile minutes, unlimited texts, 1GB data and 60 landline minutes.

You can also put in the €120 credit in one go and 48 will take it each month of its any good to you :)

The 240 credit the plan costs for 12 months only sets me back 80 euro in clubcard tokens.

Being able to build your own package is the big selling point. I think the 20GB of 4G data for €13 on a monthly contract will be popular for people looking to use their phone as a WiFi hotspot. It well trumps TM's previous data 15GB of 3G for €15 which went back on for PAYG.

PS I might be wrong but it looks to me as if the plans are the same price on PAYG as on Billpay! Am I right??

Can you get data only on a sim?

I can slide up the thing but I think the minimum fee of calls and texts still applies so it works out been a minimum of 20 euro?

I get about 80euro of clubcard points in the December mailing.

Is that tesco credit card or something? If I was spending that much on groceries in tesco vs elsewhere I'd be down several grand.

The 80 euro clubcard tokens are built up over the year. We only get the tokens in the Christmas mailing. I don't get all my shopping in tesco, I shop around. Tesco have great offers and great choice.

Maybe I'm picking you up wrong but

    240 - 80 euro worth of points= €160 a year?

    48s 12 months x 10 a month= €120 a year so you'd be saving €40 even with your club card points?

He's only spending €80 worth of clubcard vouchers a year so even if he was spending cash it would be €40 a year cheaper than 48.

In December I'll get 80 euro in clubcard points. The 80 euro of points is turned into 240 euro of tesco call credit.

Good point. If you do that, plus use iMessage and whatsapp, then you could top-up by just €15 per month, add the 5GB of data for €10 and you would be left with €5 credit.

I suppose I don't bother with that as I don't even use 1GB per month as is and I'd have no use for the extra €5 credit. To be honest, with using clubcard points, it is already so ridiculously cheap, I don't think it is worth the hassle of using web texts. But still, a really good idea for some people.

    See here:

Thanks for that :). I don't want to have a voicemail, I don't want people to be charged if i don't answer :)

Have been on bill pay but tempted by the tesco €15 deal.

Am I correcting in thinking that there is an extra charge for accessing voicemail so I would need to top up by more than €15?

Can you do €16 or is it just multiples of €5?

For anyone that is on the €15 deal what does it normally cost you a month with extras like voicemail?

Is it really 15 one month and 20 the next - ball park for average use

It is free to call voicemail in Ireland.

I just spend €15 every month, not a cent more. Actually less since I get it free about every second month due to clubcard points.

The only costs would be if you called premium numbers or international numbers. But then if you topup by €15 and bought the addons, you wouldn't have any credit left for premium numbers and international calls, so they would simply fail and not cost you anything. Sounds weird, but actually a good thing IMO as it means you don't accidentally call an expensive number and use up all your credit.

You could always topup by €20, spend €15 on addons and then be left with €5 of extra credit for premium calls, etc.

    BTW yes, top-ups are only in €5 amounts (i.e. €15, €20, etc.).

    I was looking at this - https://www.tescomobile.ie/priceplans/callcharges/other-call-charges.aspx
but looks like they are the prices if you dont top up.

What I was trying to do was avoid being left with credit on the account because it seems you must top up by 15 in one go to avail of the package so didn't want to have credit there that I couldn't access.

As I say have always been billpay but this looks better value so just trying to figure out how it works.

Similar if you top up by say €20 to go abroad and use €16 abroad what happens the remainder?

Well if you top-up by €15 that only gives you unlimited calls.

You would then normally opt to spend €10 of the €15 on unlimited texts and €5 of the €15 on 1GB of data. You would then have zero credit left over.

Or alternatively you could not bother with the unlimited texts and just buy 1GB of data and thus have €10 credit left.

Or not bother with the unlimited texts and just buy 5GB of data and thus have €5 credit left.

    etc....

You would have €4 left over which would carry over to the next month and could thus be used for premium calls, texts or the next day you go on holidays.

This is where I am iffy,

So basically tesco have some of my money which I cant use untill the next time I get to go abroad (usually just once a year unfortunately for me)
assuming I dont use premium calls/texts

If there was €5 left could you buy €10 credit and then combine them to have one €15 top up?

Sorry if I am being stupid about this, can get it clear in my head that they would have credit on my account that I couldn't use

No the 15€ topup has to be done every 30 days in one transaction.

    Get Vodafone PAYG SIM

    BEFORE you top up

    Sign up to Cherry Points

Text Cherry to 50222 to start picking up points with every top up
You'll then need to register with My Vodafone online to access the catalogue of rewards.

EDIT: To opt in, text FREENET to 50222 EDIT

TOP UP by 30euro online or via Myvodafone app
this gives unlimited calls/texts to VF and 500MB of data and 100 international mins. You have 30 euro credit still and can choose to purchase an ADD ON.

Then Text RED to 50233 for Unlimited Any Network Calls & Texts plus 3GB of Data, €30

Note you will have zero credit at this pt.

So for your 30 euro top up you'll get 33 cherry pts (get an extra 10% for doing it online) plus an extra 60 pts for texting RED so 93 pts worth €9.30 towards a future top up

So for €20.70 per month you'll have unlimited calls/texts 3.5GB of data and 100 min International calls

Also theres often top up offers as in top up by 30 and get 35 or 39 credit as well as random extra cherry pts reducing the cost further.

It's important that you set these things up BEFORE you top up.

I hope I'm explaining that okay. Any questions just ask.

Thats a very good deal/strategy. Do you have to manually request the free calls every month or will it automatically be added if you've topped up/have the credit. Also, it would be nice if 4g was included but i guess thats just being greedy.

Not a stupid question at all, actually a very good one.

No, you can't combine top-ups like that. You have to do one single €15 top-up in order to get the unlimited calls. So yes, the extra €5 would end up being unused.

In fact I'm carrying about €14 extra credit from doing similar after being with Tesco 2 years.

What you could do is, after the 30 days of free calls runs out, don't top-up again, instead just continue to use your phone for a few extra days and it should use up that extra €5 credit with out of bundle calls and texts and when it is all used up, then topping up by the 15 again.

Personally I couldn't be bothered doing that, specially given the ridiculously good value of it with clubcard points (I see my next two months will now be free :) and I kind of like having the extra €14 credit in case I need to ring a premium numbers.

BTW when I say premium numbers, I include in that numbers like 1850, 1890, which lots of companies use (Banks, etc.).

Yeah, the PAYG Red bundle is non-recurring so you have to text RED to 50233 every 30 days.

The Red bundle also includes access to 4G.

One thing to remember is that you have to opt-in for the unlimited calls and then top-up by at least €15 in one go for the unlimited calls for 30 days (although there is an actual 400 minutes/day and 10,000minutes /month limit). Plus you still retain your €15 top-up to use to pay for other services - it does not disappear. You also get 300 free webtexts so just download the app and you are not really going to need a text bundle.

PS there is no time limit on your top-up like you must use it within 30 days or anything. It stays on your balance until you spend it.

Not specifically the carphone warehouse thing but for someone just using calls is the 360 mins for 10 on 48 the best option. It also includes unlimited texts and a gig of data but is there anything that doesn't include these that is cheaper.

Been on the €15 tesco top up deal for a year and it's great, but never once considered using the web text instead of the text add on! Only ever send about 20 regular texts. Can get the 5gb data add on with €5 left over. Genius.

You can save yourself €3 a month by downloading the app for your texts.
