Do you have a personalised business card to give people? More importantly do you care whether

a: someone has a business card?

or

b: what it looks like?

or

c: the material it's made of?

Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark.

But...is it needed anymore? 10 years a go with limited instant communication maybe but today? Does it not look more self important now? Hard to find the word for it, we'll go with "American Psycho" as a previous poster put it.

I'm thinking of getting them but i'm undecided on it.

I like it because it has a touch of class about it.

Nothing classy about asking someone to take your number down on a smartphone.

At a Christmas party last year a floor worker in Supervalue gave me a business card (for some reason).

Now I have no problem with that. Fair play. And it looked good, it was nice. But non business people with business cards?

I think they have their place. It's a quick and easy way of handing over your details to a business contact without having to look for pen and paper or take out your phone.

They don't need to be extravagant. Just functional.

Last week I was given the original copper printing plate for my great grandfather's business card.
It is just the size of a business card and the engraving is in his own handwriting. Just a throwback or reminder of when things were done a little bit differently

Yes, when I was in Japan, where they are a very common and even essential part of business/networking. Etiquette to how they should be offered and received also.

Business cards are becoming less used, but still have a place for those meeting a high number of new people as a regular part of their work.

A calling card however, is still essential for personal use; simply announcing oneself when out visiting, and the regulation of who you may make personal calls upon, and who may make personal calls to you at your residence.

Have ye ever seen a student with a business card?

Since I'm going to be going to a lot of careers events in the next year, I was thinking of getting a set of basic business cards with contact details & Linkedin QR code on them.
