Anyone here know how long it takes to get a trinity id? I have accepted the course but havent gotten any word from trinity, I'm really anxious to get trinity hall.

I got my Trinity ID last week in an email. Apparently they were "preassigned".
Be sure to check your junk/spam though because mine ended up there. I can log in to my.tcd.ie but they havent received my acceptance yet..

This way makes a lot more sense and surprised it took them so long to do it like this - especially for Halls.

Wanted a level 8 course and its 4th in my level 8 list and i have 30 points extra.. Is it because of order of preference? :(

    What do you mean?
CAO will offer the first course on your list that you have enough points for and meet all entry requirements. so if you get 550 and have
    1: X for 300
    2: Y for 500

you'll still get number 1 as its first in order of preference, not in order of points.

    Hey guys,

UL graduate posting here. For any of you who unfortunately didn't get your 1st choice, try not to be too upset. I got my 3rd/4th (can't remember) choice and it was the best course I could have ever done!

Any course is great and you'll come to love it :D

Hope you all enjoy the last few weeks before the real stuff begins!

    Eh?

You got your 4th option because you didn't get the points for you top 3, don't know what you mean by "is it because of order of preference?"

I got my first two offers, for my level 8 I have UCC first and CIT second, will I get an offer for CIT because it is a different college?

You can get one Level 8 offer and one Level 7/6 offer. You can take either offer. You cannot get two Level 8 offers in one round. Did you read your CAO handbook??

    Anybody get Nanoscience in Trinity?
At 595 i'm a bit scared i'll be out of my depth, in a class full of geniuses.

Was talking to a few friends after the results and the CAO came into conversation. None of them knew that you can't get your second choice if you have enough points for your first! Luckily for them, none wanted their second choice, but seriously, people need to pay attention when the guidance teacher discussed it in class!

Anyways, rant over. NUIG courses went up massively! My course went up by 55 points, while the highest I saw was 70 points for Electrical Engineering!

Anybody think BIS in cit will drop another 10/15 points?

    2014 - 365
    2015 - 355

    Thoughts?

The online CAO application needs to have a multiple choice test on how the system works similar to the driver theory test which an applicant must pass before they are allowed proceed with the application. It would save all the ridiculous queries about courses lower down the list every August.

You're only going to get one offer, the one from UCC. It doesn't matter that it's two different colleges you applied to.

No, you cannot be offered something lower down your list. Your list was by order of preference. Putting something as number one meant you wanted it more than your number two preference. Again, did you read your CAO handbook?

No one knows. It depends on how students who apply for it next year do.

Yes I did but a friend mentioned something about getting an offer from both colleges. We didn't have guidance either.

Went down by ten points in the second round last year. It's possible but I wouldn't get your hopes up tbh.

It's high because there are so few places. If General Science or practically any course had as many places as Nanoscience, the points would be similar. Nanoscience is an up and coming field, and it seems that job prospects are bright, so people are attracted to it. Only a couple of years ago, the points were mid to high 400's and it was in the 300's a decade ago. If you got those points, you should be fine if you're willing to put in the work. You shouldn't be out of your depth, especially if you did well at Physics, Chemistry and Maths in your Leaving Cert.

Anyway, I'm happy with my course. I was well clear so I had a relatively peaceful night compared to those of you who were awake until dawn.:pac: I hope everyone got on alright and even if you didn't get your first choice, it's definitely not the end of the world and there's always another way into what you want.:)
