First day on my trip away that I've been able to get wifi, so thought I log on to say hello.

Also to posters who are out there thanks whoring, please stop. It's a horrible nightmare of an life, with a never ending cycle of logging in to count how many thanks you get, who thanked you and more importantly, which pricks didn't.

It's the reason I haven't had wifi. I'm in that Thai detox place that junkies go to get off the gear, only I'm trying to get off the thanks.

The problem is I've just set up a new Twitter account and I've started to crave retweets. I'll be grand though, as a retweet is just like the hash, not as addictive and will help with the come down of the hard stuff.

P.S, Turty you should join me here. Councillor Pilbury once of this parish, believes you really need help with the oul thanks.

    Get well soon Hangball.

Good to see you're getting help because if you don't face up to your problems you'll just keep bottling them up inside until one day they all explode out in the form of a rage quit. And you might think 'that's not too bad I can just start again and nobody will know' but they will know, you start falling into your old habits and it becomes obvious that it's you...

Anyway, not to be an enabler but gimme a follow with all your accounts and I'll score you a few retweets.

    Miss you.

P.S When in Thailand always check for the Adam's apple.

Sturridge close to full fitness and should return just after the international break?

yes please stop, its pretty sad.

Surridge is interesting. Rotating him and Benteke isn't ideal imo and I dont really think they can play together as they want to occupy the same space.
A good problem to have or potential trouble?

I'm thinking we should start playing with two strikers. Whenever we play with one, they end up getting marked out of the game

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 61,272 ✭✭✭✭Agent Coulson

Two strikers starting is a must I think.

We have been most successful under Rodgers when we played two up front.

Not quite...if we win then I don't see how we can be stopped but if Arsenal win they'll still find a way to Arsenal it up.

Well he did say he's getting help.

For better or worse Benteke should be the main focus of the attack. If Sturridge can stay fit for the rest of the season and stop being sh!te rusty, them maybe consider building the attack around both of them, but until then it will be hard to build any kind of continuity.

A similar way of playing, granted. But vastly inferior in quality every way possible. Not being disparaging to Jonjo but Gerrard at his peak was simply magnificent. Shelvey isn't and won't be. Also trying to replace like for like with a player like Gerrard is nigh on impossible (similar to Suarez).
No point in comparing Gerrard at his peak to any Liverpool player. Shelvey has turned 23 and only now has completed his second full season of regular first team football in the Premier League. Gerrard at the same age had completed four such seasons, it's not likely that that would have happened had Zinedine Zidane been the player Gerrard was competing with for a first team place at the time. That is the scale of the comparison.

Shelvey was a talent when the club signed him, he was mismanaged in so far as he needed first team football to aid his development yet in his time at the club he started 30 odd games in all competitions. He was never going to displace Gerrard so the club should have done more to get him first team football on loan deals. The loan deal at Blackpool simply proved he belonged at a higher level than the Championship.

At Liverpool he only stood a chance of regular first team football if Gerrard was unavailable. If Shelvey started a game and did well there was no guarantee he would start the next game because if Gerrard was available he started. In contrast, Gomez has been given the confidence of the manager. If he plays well he keeps his place in the team. It's a different proposition for the player's development.

I'm happy for Shelvey, at Swansea he is beginning to thrive under the responsibility he has been given and show what a player he can be. He has scored 9 goals in 77 appearances in the last two seasons, this compares favourably to Gerrard at the same age, 11 goals in 99 appearances. This is by no means a proof that he is/was the player to replace Gerrard but does suggest he has talent.

Selling him to Swansea so cheaply was a curious decision. They had enquired about taking him on loan the previous season (2012/13) but Liverpool rejected the approach. In June 2013, Shelvey had a conversation with Rodgers about his first team prospects for the new season or else going out on loan. Rodgers said he would talk to suitable clubs such as Swansea about a loan for the season. The following day, Shelvey got a call from his agent saying Liverpool had accepted an offer from Swansea. It was their conversation with Rodgers that turned the loan option into the possibility of a permanent move instead. In what world is a 22 year old Joe Allen worth £15M but a 21 year old Jonjo Shelvey only £5M?

Last season Shelvey would have rightly displaced Gerrard in the first team. He makes stupid decisions at times for which he is criticised but **** it Gerrard also made some stupid decisions throughout his Liverpool career.

That is a weird one. Don't get me wrong I think he is very talented but from being laughed about here because his agent was trying to tout him to Liverpool to signing for Madrid.

We have plated and won one match. We played pretty damn poorly ourselves and it required an individual effort in the dying minutes to win it.

Let's not be getting too ahead of ourselves.

Seems to be a few posts taking Bournemouth for granted.

Tomorrow absolutely is a must win game for Rodgers. A 5 point cushion is ideal given the run of away games we have.

If we turned into the boring boring Arsenal and one nil to the Arsenal team and won 25 to 30 games 1-0 and ugly I would take that.

That would put us in great shape for a top 4 place and even a chance at the title.
