The reliability of those Lexus models does appear to be one of those few motoring yarns that is actually true, a massive plus when it comes to luxobarges. I wonder as they advance will the reliability continue, ie the 600h models etc. I'd seriously consider a Lexus if their styling wasn't so far behind all the other marques.

New models are definitely much better, but even models from 5-6 years ago look ancient.

Last NCT tested possibly as long as 2.5 years ago

    No thanks!

Does the seller honestly think he can sell it for anywhere near that without test?

even if it doesnt have nct, if they even put it through and you know what if failed on, it would be very good to know...

well not even the luxo barge, my own IS250 as much much as it is not a luxo barge is definitely on the reliable side, every bit as reliable as the bigger engined barges. In reality whatever about looks, there is absolutely no point owning something as awesome and sexy as a Maserati if it costs thousands each year to run, and it probably will.

I'd have a 750 if it wasn't for the lack of spec on 95% of them, when my 740 came along i couldn't believe the spec it had, such an odd combination.

I was in Cargotec there during the week up around your area, Im pretty certain I saw your 740. Really is such a sweet, sweet car. It was the wheels and pressed plates that gave it away....:D

The person who buys the Maserati isn't as obsessed as you are with reliability and probably earns substantially more to be able to justify it...;)

Fooked if I'd drive a pig ugly car no matter how reliable / economic it may be.

fair play to them so, A very nice recent Maserati can be got for ~£20k, not exactly millionaire money. Will it spend more time on the road or on the garage though...I think I have a good idea myself

Was thinking a diesel of sorts myself. Love the way he slates Lexus cars. I'd be the first to admit they certainly don't set the world alight on looks but there are worse out there.

So, Big Nasty gives his own opinion on a car and it degenerates into this.
Are all 4x4's diesel now? And how does owning a 5er guarantee it's a diesel?

Simple. Any car that is not a Lexus, or a Focus, is a German paddy-spec daysul.

I never slated Lexus. I said I wouldn't drive an ugly car. I'd be including an E65 7 series in that too by the way. I'm a fan of German cars but I'm not blind.

And no, the 5er is not diesel.

You're derailing of every thread you participate in is getting tiresome at this stage.

Was thinking the same. Nearly every thread I'm interested in has some Lexus talk which turns into utter crap to the point where you lose interest in the actual thread.
    It just never ends.

I don't car what anyone drives or what anyone thinks of Lexus, calling them pig ugly is a bit funny though.

Even still, this is someones opinion. There are people who think that Alfas/Lancias (of old) are the ugliest cars of all time.
Not everyone is going to agree on this.

Who specifically said that Lexus is pig ugly anyhow?

and ultimately it's irreverent to this once wonderful thread which is dedicated to something of a different narrower focus...

tbf you are constantly back commenting on every post i make, seems when I mention the L word your eyes light up and steam blows out of all your orifices, its ok we know you hate Lexus, you have made it pretty clear to everyone here by now. Probably not the first BMW owner mind you. So make a cup of Tea and leave it at that.

It's not Lexus cars I dislike. It's (some) of the owners. ;)

funnily that it came after my post about Lexus barges and saying they were uber reliable.

Anyway, please keep thoughts of Lexus to yourself, I don't give a hoot what you think, nor does anyone else. This thread is about barges.

Do I look concerned? If you dislike me so much how about unfollowing all my posts, just a thought.

not a hope, next thread I create you will be all over it like a pig in shiite, good lad.

Oh, you're a very paranoid little chappy if you think all my posts are aimed at you and your favourite brand.

what else were you commenting on seeing that the previous posts were some civil discussion about Lexus and reliability, of course you had to stick your head head in and get involved.

    * mods, can you get this cleaned up and remove these posts.

Sorry now, but the post before mine was about a 7 series.

You are the one who automatically assumed I was talking about a Lexus and dragged yet another thread off topic.

I've been posting here 6 / 7 years and haven't fallen out with anyone in all that time however in your relatively short time on boards.ie you've managed to get many people's backs up.

I did get a 24hr ban from Motors once for calling someone out for being a dick though. ;)
