Sounds like the OP should buy a Mazda 6. Going by posts, just looking for something with cheap tax, nice looking less than 10k and likes the 6.

there is a detailed review here of the is250

Did the OP not rule out the IS250?

You're not going to do this all over again are you?

sorry revisiting here, what are thoughts on below? i have decided i dont mind the high tax if its something i really want to buy.
but what i want to know is this spec the highest to be found in ireland do you think? i see most others are poverty spec. im willing to wait for a decent spec then pounce:D

I've had a few 3 series coupes and convertibles, if I had to spend 10k in the morning on one it'd be something like this http://cars.donedeal.ie/view/9313708

You'll probably find one with lower mileage, but you get the idea..I'd say this time of the year he'd take 8.5/9 for it..

it looks like ireland is the wrong place to be looking for a good spec is250 going by past posts, not gone on the bmw.

although the more i look at it :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,501 ✭✭✭✭drunkmonkey

That's a tasty car, go have a good look at one...proper roof so no having to swap hardtops, one of the best looking 3 series with the roof up...thought the mileage was in miles but it's km, it's worth a look ; )

Immaculate One Owner Lexus IS250 in Navy Metallic with Cream Leather. Full Executive Specification Including: Heated and Ventilated Seats. Alloy Wheels. Automatic Gearbox with Steering Wheel mounted Paddles. Aux Input. Cruise Control. Climate Control Parking Sensors. Full Service History and 2 Keys. Warranty Given. Trade in Welcome. Finance Arranged

this is what you want, good spec (HIDs too and that electric blind) and milage about spot on. These cars are well able to handle big miles (100k+) but the higher the miles as with any car the more likely nasty bills can prop up.

With the IS250 is needs a big service at ~50k, spark plugs and all that.

You wont regret getting one of these.

yeah well I own one, doesn't take me long to pick out the good ones.

Thats pretty much as well equipped as my own one minus the Mark Levinson unit but the stock head unit is not to be sniffed at, think it has 13 speakers itself. If you do view this check that it had a detailed 50k service, if it has not had it take off quite a bit from the price.

50k in 8 years, that'll give you an idea how afraid the last owner was afraid to drive it...your tax and juice bill will be epic and forget about trying to resell it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,697 ✭✭✭Hachiko

    mine has 60k and its a 2008.

What year is your own? Do they stop at 2008 as I haven't seen any 2009+
OK you are officially my go to guy now for any is250 questions :D

clearly drunken wants you to buy a BMW and join the rest of the BMW owners here. :p

The IS250 can actually get well over 400 miles on a full tank, reliability is exceptional, forget about trying to sell it - strange that the Lexus in the first post is sold.

clearly you know nothing about an is250.

every review about them seems to say good things, up to the op what he decides to buy in the end, I am one of the few people here to own a lexus. Like the guy who wanted a 300h, its best to register with the lexus owners club uk. All the questions will be answered there but I have not heard any bad things about an is250.

aye, seems so. I had a thread here with my own Lexus, probably in the locked archives somewhere.

    Here is mine.

    SUHPKWFDX7HYVC8P7jm5tV1Butn5Q3Es_WeFKmhy55A=w1698-h955-no

The is250 was sold till 2012 in the Mark II guise, contrary to what posters here say there are not many on the roads. I actually have seen none in Southampton where I am, I seen quite a few IS220d's which are brutal.

Its very reliable, super comfortable, probably better interior build than a 3 series and super quite cabin.

Are you sure you're not the CEO or similar of Lexus?!

You're love for the is250 is mad!

not really, all valid points tbh.

best way to judge all these comments is just drive one.

Your forgetting I've had an IS, she might have been diesel and I do like the car just not the diesel, friend has a is250 he bought new so I'm pretty familiar with both the petrol and diesel versions.

Went bmw, Mercedes, Lexus, and now back to bmw.
I'll stick with my ultimate driving machine, think op would be cracked to by an is250 at that money. He's into big boy tax and that opens up a lot more choices, suddenly the Lexus doesn't seem so hot.
Back to if your going to spend on high tax, it's time to test drive a 530/535d

go back into the hole you came out from..

all the overzealous BMW owners hijacking the thread now.

The OP clearly asked about a is250, being seemingly the only owner of one I gave my opinion and thoughts. Its up to the OP what he decides to get, I don't care if he buys a Alfa Romeo Mito at the end of the day.

The ultimate driving machine, driving to the garage maybe.

He's capable of buying anything by the sounds of him.

Won't brag about how reliable mine is and I've put 100k on it in the last 22mts. : )

I wouldn't go near a Lexus with a ten foot barge pole

I wouldn't go near a BMW with a ten foot barge pole.

    Here's an actual recommendation

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-audi-a6/9915356

don't mind power. It's not as if you can race around this country all day with speed cameras and garda around. Just go for comfort and reliability like this.
