Ideally, you should check oil weekly and before a long journey. They type of oil will depend on what car you have.

    Read the manual.

It depends if the car is new as in 152, or just new to you.

In the beginning check about weekly until you have an understanding of if the car uses a lot of oil and how much. Then you can use that knowledge to check it intermittently and top up as needed.

For what oil to use - the same that's already in the car :) Check your manual or let us know what car make and model it is and we can suggest something.

If I get any car first I check it weekly for a month, then after that before every long journey of 100 miles plus and each time I am adding water to the windscreen washer tank.

    It is a Toyota Avensis 152 ,

    someone mentioned this : http://www.halfords.ie/motoring-travel/engine-oils-fluids/engine-oil/castrol-edge-0w30-oil-4-litre

Manual says : it seems they recommend 0-30W

This been a new car should you use a more expensive oil

Also Should i get this serviced with Toyota While it is under Warranty....

1 litre of oil would be grand to have in the boot.
For a new car I wouldn't DIY service. You just need oil that meets specs rather than base it on how pricey it is.
I would do main dealer servicing whilst it's under warranty. You aren't obliged to do this, but it outs you in a better position should you have a warranty grey-area

Millers Oil is a good brand without a huge price tag.
Have used nothing but it for the last couple of years.
