Are they a serious alternative to those GoPro cameras?

From researching them they seem to be. I just don't what to order one that is a fake one.

was looking at ordering from Alienexpress or banggood

I'm a bit late responding. But Banggood are reputable, whereas Aliexpress sellers are very hit and miss. I wouldn't bother with them. I bought another type of GoPro off a very highly rated seller with thousands of previous sales, and still ended up with a fake.

Have bought two off Banggood and find them very good. Delivery takes a few weeks. Make sure you order from the Chinese warehouse versus UK as it is about half the price. For the price ~60 the camera is great.
