You sure? If so, that's pretty unusual.

Simple glitch in the system. That zig-zag never happened.

I've been listening lately to the ATC on approach and there seems to be a lot of idiots pointing strong lasers at the aircraft. I heard it yesterday and now only a few minutes ago. I don't get it, how can a person get a buzz/laugh out of that ?. Am I missing something ?.

No but an explanation wouldn't have been needed at all if the original post had 'Special Olympics' instead of 'SO' which is a rather vague initialism.

    GTBOH.

Lots of Fog at Cork today. RVR is just lingering above the required 300m. No problems so far.

    did this plane actually land???

was reading on twitter earlier that a plane was diverting to shannon due to medical emergency, but the passenger died and it reverted its course and carried on - assume they thought it was best to carry on and have passenger in the correct place rather than have family arrange to get the body to Canada.

that seems strange all the same.

Not really strange, it's a shame for the passenger who died but it's probably far easier on EVERYONE if they continued on rather than divert and offload. The logistics for the family and airline would be huge plus the cost. It's bad enough your loved one dying but having to fly to or organise the deceased repatriation on top of that would be difficult and costly.

as i said in my post, thats the best thing.

however, is it not weird being in plane with a dead person for 7 or 8 hours?

Some might mind others wouldn't, I wouldn't to be honest.

you say that, speaking as somebody who has spent 7 or 8 hours in a confined space with a dead body close by yes?

I think it's the Emirates A380's that have spaces, like a morgue, for the bodies of people who die on-board.

I am sure in the unfortunate event of something like that happening that plans have been put in place. A 777 is going to have plenty of space, especially if not at full capacity, I would assume there would also be a rest area for crew which in this circumstance could be used.

I was on a transatlantic flight earlier this year where someone needed medical attention and following that there was no way the passenger could go back to where they were sitting, the person was put in a crew area and apart from an announcement looking for a doctor the majority of other passengers would not have seen what actually happened.

OU3500 go around at ORK (RWY17)followed by an approach and successful landing on RWY35.

First time I've seen the like of this, although I think a MANX2 did this (on the crash, which is unrelated)

Its not that easy as the crew may need that crew rest area due to their duty legality.

For us, if a doctor declares the person dead, then the flight can continue, otherwise you must land. We don't have dedicated body storage areas, so the crew will do the best that they can, even if it means that the body must remain in its own seat beside others.

Wind changed while they were on short finals, subsequent runway change and vectors back to an ILS for 35

It says its going to PHL and appears to be going to PHL, I just say the flight paths are glitching.

How would you know?? Unless you're within a couple of rows you'd have no clue, procedure for a couple of airlines I know of is to try move pax from the deceased to different seats and then secure the deceased and cover them with a blanket as if they are sleeping. Personally wouldn't bother me
