How much would a 2 litre car cost me?

I'm a 19 year old male and I've never driven before. I'm probably going to start off in a 1 litre car like a micra, but I was just wondering how much a 2 litre Japanese car would cost me annually. Just out of curiosity :)

I'm talking about tax and insurance annually.

Your insurance on a Japanese 2l+ car with no experience will be €3000+, probably much higher, if you can get it. Tax rates are on the motor tax site.

I'm guessing the quote might read like Japanese yen

I'd say the safest bet is to forget about any 2.0L car until you have at least 4 or 5 years NCB in your name along with a full licence and no penalty points and even then you are going to find it difficult to get insurance on a 2.0 petrol car.

Your annual insurance would probably be the equivalent to what most folks would pay over a decade.

Depends entirely on the car. I went from a 1.0 to a 1.8 and insurance stayed the same, tax is about 400 more per annum and I spend a little bit more on fuel as well.

Being north of 21 and again of 25 makes a big difference unfortunately. Anything between 17 and 20 is no mans land if you want anything fancy :(

I'm 31, with 9 years NCB and a full Irish licence for 7 years. Just tried requesting a quote for the first 2l jap car I could think of (Evo) and every site I tried said they couldn't quote me online, to call. One site said they wouldn't quote me, to try a different company and gave a suggestion.

That can't be good anyway :pac:

Car insurance in general is going to get real painful in the coming months I fear, and not just for newbies. Real painful.
