Hi all, looking for some advice please! I'm changing my router with UPC(on 240mb + home phone), I am not using or planning to use bridge mode.

Which device is best between the Technicolor TC7200 and the UBEE?

The 2 PC's I'm using at home are Cat5E wired with 1gb cards(I understand the Ubee doesn't work well with older 100mb cards).

The TC2700 seems more stable as it's been out a while but I am tempted to go with the new UBEE:D

    I don't think you'd get a choice either way.

    HI Movie Maestro,
Which router did you choose? I just joined UPC. The router I have is Technicolour TC7200. The configuration page of this modem is offers very little choice to customise the router. There are no IPv4 dns servers possible, only IPv4 dns address is possible. Some times it take ages to resolve the host name to ipaddress. Also internet connection seems to be loosing from time to time!

Any one who use Ubee modem here?

Hi guys. I have Technicolor TC7200 and I'm not happy with it. Poor signal strength - only few meters away from it in the same room without any obstructions and smartphones are decreasing bars of signal. Laptops are are losing WiFi internet connection every once in a while when watching videos on YouTube or streaming from different sites.
My contract is finishing now and I'm about to call UPC to negotiate new contract for next 12 months. Currently on 120Mb internet only (with obligatory yet unwonted phone). I'll demand change of router as I'm deeply unsatisfied with performance of Technicolor I received last year.
I wander which particular router should I demand to receive. Strong WiFi signal and stable connection are my priority.
Is UBEE good replacement for Technicolor TC7200?
    Would you suggest something else?
    Please advise. Thanks!

When you cancel do they take the router off you as i am planning on leaving them soon & dont want the expense of buying it back if i go back.

The router technically belongs to UPC so they may ask you to return it. They may but they don't have to. Last year I was upgrading from 30Mb to 120Mb I received new router, the infamous Technicolor, but guy who delivered it didn't want to take back the old router I had.
Anyway, when you will be signing new agreement with them in the future, you will receive necessary equipment for the service you order. So I don't understand the question of "buying it back".

another solution would be to enable bridge mode on the router and connect 'proper' box behind it.

Thanks for link. It looks astro-sience to me :)
What exactly "bridge mode" mean? Does it effectively change a router into a modem?
Form a noob point of view, it will serve only one computer connected by cable? WiFi is gone?
And the "proper box" would be a WiFi router connected to bridged UPC box? Do I understand it correctly? Would it give me a much stronger WiFi signal throughout the apartment?

Could you give me some recommendation for the proper box? I'll google the price.

I did some reading and finally decided to bridge TV7200 and buy Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Wireless Router. 149 EUR new cheapest I found.
