    Hi,

I've just started vaping and bought the VIP kit with the 24mg USA Kentucky tobacco. I was smoking 20 a day, (off them 2 days now) and I'm looking for any liquid that may be more like Mayfair or Pall Mall?
Is the VIP kit ok or should I look for something better?

Where is the best place to get the liquids?

    All help much appreciated :)

Vip kit is ****e, fair play to you for staying off the ciggies using that.
    And welcome :-)

How much are you willing to spend?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 521 ✭✭✭disco girl

Any amount really...and I was just looking at the eGo kits, are they any better than the VIP ones do you know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,972 ✭✭✭Trond

    Right here goes :-)

Basically in the food chain of the vape world VIP kits and cigalikes from corner shops are the lowest quality devices you can buy.

eGo kits are a step up but are still not great given the price and other available options. eGo kits are around for a good few years at this point and you can very easily get a better bang for your buck...

The usual answer (and the correct one) given to these kinda threads is get an iStick battery and Mini Nautilus tank. It'll set you back around €60-70 in total.

    Battery

    Tank

The tank itself will need a replacement coil in a couple of weeks. Sometimes a little less sometimes they can last for up to 3 weeks. Depends on what juice you are using and what temperature you are vaping at.

    Replacement coils for tank

In regard to specific flavoured ejuices Im very wary of ejuices that say they replicate a certain brand of cigarette because to the best of knowledge and experience they simply don't.

Best thing I could recommend is head to a vape shop or somewhere you can sample a number of different juices before handing over money for something you may end up hating.

if you are Dublin based there are plenty of options for you....

I used the VIP kit when I started but only for about 2 or 3 weeks while I got up to speed on vape tech. It was usable but really expensive for carts and of course the battery life was woeful.

After that I got a Innokin MVP v2 battery (that lasted over 2 days) and a Aspire Nautilus 5ml tank. Ah ha! so this is what vaping is all about and finally it all clicked and I was loving it, there was never a thought of smoking again. Downside to this setup was bulk but the convenience was worth it, 2 to 3 days without charging or refilling was bliss. Now I rebuild and DIY everything and love it.

These days there is even more choice and while that's great I can only imagine how overwhelming that can be for someone new.

Today the choice is an Eleaf iStick mini and an Aspire Nautilus mini. Much smaller then my original setup but just as good. There are other great atomizer tanks that would suit too but you won't go wrong with these.

Wow thanks a million lads, I might wait a week or so...see how I get on first before I get into moving up specs..

    Much appreciated :)

If you happen to be in town in that time head up to the Vape Café on Capel St.

They have about 20 -30 juices ready to be sampled. The lads who run it are bang on and will help you find what juice suits you best.

I will add to the iStick 30w battery the Eleaf GS Air atomiser instead of the Nautilus Mini.
I find it has performed just as well for half the price.

good choice, I've swapped my nautilus mini for the GS air recently and its excellent for when I'm smoking my higher nicotine level juice.

Love this place, definitely worth popping in, can spend as long as you like trying juices and the prices are really good, getting a juice I like can be tricky so I love trying things out

Hi I'm new here also. A week vaping now. Problem is I'm very nausea. So far I've tried a lot of juices but cant seem to find one that suits. I've reduced on the mg. but its not enough. I always smoked John Players Blue but most of the juices have a hint of sweetness in them which I hate. Can anyone help, I'm tired of feeling sick.

I never liked tobacco juice to be honest. Best thing to do would be to go into a shop and try before you buy. You might be surprised at what you like. Have an open mind and try lots. Hope you find one that suits you

I'm using Alternative Smoker Virginia, I don't get a sweetness from it, has a good throat hit too. Just make sure your not vaping too much like if it's near constant which can happen the first while, the nicotine might be making you nauseous

Sounds like too much nicotine to me mate.
It will come, the knowledge, soon enough.
You'll know when you're satisfied and when to stop vaping.
I over nic myself even now a couple of times a month.
'Whoa, I think I'm gonna Hurl....'
Just let it pass and drink plenty of water.

Oh and about flavours, what you hate now you will probably be vaping in a few months time thinking 'how did I ever do without this?'
Your taste buds are fked from Johnny Blue and will take a few weeks to recover.
Also, welcome back to tasting your food.

Thats a great kit you got there.
I wish I'd had such good gear when I was starting out.
Might have saved me a year on again/off again with the ciggys.

Great choice, you'll love it, good luck

It's a brilliant bit of kit....the other is total muck in comparison....I'm a heavy vaper and this does the job really well :D

You're lucky starting now,i started 4 years ago,the choices back then were very very limited ,i'm currently using an eleaf and a nautilis mini, which is basically awesome:D,nicer than smoking ever was ,without the stink of smoke off you .
Well done on giving up smoking btw, you've probably just added 10 years to your life expectancy ,which is also pretty awesome, enjoy.

Thanks everyone for replying but I'm still in trouble. I've dropped down to 12mg but no good. I swear to God there is something in it that I'm sensitive to. The ingredients are not listed on the bottle. I've done some research on the web and most e-liquids have PG and VG. When I inhale I get a sickly feeling just below my throat and stomach. Can anyone help please.

It does sound like nicotine over load, when I first started vaping I was using my ego stick like it was a cigarette.. Totally overloaded on juice..
I also had to experiment with different types and manufacturers of juice, .. PG v VG .. Flavours etc.
Many mistakes were made, I think boards have a lot to do with me still vaping reading about daily purchases etc.hints and reviews..and vaping can become enjoyable.. What's the alternative..

I get that sensation on some liquids.
That awful feeling you get before you puke?
I just 'swallow it down' and leave my vape down for a few minutes.
It tends to happen only on a few liquids I have, anything 'creamy' I think is the usual offender.

I've been to a different e shop and tried their products, no good. So I've been doing some reading on PG and VG. I've decided to try 50/50% None of my local shops stock this but I've found an online shop in England that sell trial bottles.

What brands have you been using? Friend of mine gave up on vaping originally due to him buying ****e from corner shops etc.

Are you based in Dublin by any chance?

I've used Wicked and Smooth Vapour. I'm in Munster Trond.

Ah ok so. Just wanted to make sure crappy juice was the problem.

Not sure if there's anywhere like the Vape Café in Dublin near you but somewhere that has 20-30 juices ready and waiting to be tried might be the best solution for you.

Back when I started I used Wicked and I emailed them about the PG/VG ratio, they said it was 50/50.

You can get 30/70 juice at several Irish vendors sites. I've got a Ripe VCT 70VG juice from Best shop which is really nice.

Hi guys, so I've joined the vapping world. After reading on here (and being very confused by all the terminology) went up to a shop and invested in a Ovale 30w iStick, with 18mg nicotine liquid, as I smoke a box of Golden Virginia a day the guy in the store recommended that liquid.

Couple things, the smoke/vap is very strong, on the iStick I have it set to 9 for now, I don't feel ill or anything, just a strong hit. I'll stick with it for the moment, see how I get on.

I do want to try other flavours soon though, what brands would you guys go with?

Also, the first time I set up the chamber where the liquid goes, it all leaked out, went everywhere, then I couldn't get it open again, was weird, like it had seized up tight. Anyone else have that problem at the start?

Any other recommendations for me as I'm only starting out with all this.

    Thanks guys!
