Arriving in Charleroi - where to stay nearby

Hi, I'm arriving in Charleroi at 9.30 at night with young family. Has anyone any suggestions of a nice town to stay in nearby. I'll have a car. Many thanks

Where do you plan to go from Charleroi ?

There's Mons to the west, Namur to the east and Brussels and Aalst to the north. All within less than an hour. Throw 20 mins on top of your drive to Aalst and you're in Ghent which leaves Bruges in the hapenny place.

Charleroi itself is pretty grim ( old industrial city very much down on it's luck ) but having said that it's no worse than any other city from a safety point of view.
