    If there was a story about the commissioner appointing her husband to a handy do-nothing desk job somewhere it might be news.

    As it is, he's a detective superintendent, investigating something.
    Surely that's a good thing??

    Its an investigation into guards leaking info to journos to embarras the guarda brass of which she is a member. The head of the guards is entitled to appoint someone she can trust.

    The greasy journos bribing the guards fearful of the info being cut are spinning this.

    You read greasy journo spin and repost it here without even basic objective thought of the factual situation.

    And in case anyone thinks i am sympathetic to the curropt coppers taking said greasy backhanders i am not.

    That's about as suspicious as a mansion in Ashbourne which was owned by a well known criminal, ending up a year later being owned by the Garda Commissioner that was leading an investigation into him.

    It's an internal investigation. Internal investigations need to be investigated by a senior Garda. Her husband happens to be the senior Garda investigating it. There is nothing stopping GSOC from opening a seperate external investigation if they wish. Does that clear my point up for you?

    Who said she is the subject of the investigation? Precisely nobody.

    She's a Garda member and the one with the most information available to her, by definition she is a suspect. You didn't answer the other questions.

    I don't mind people adapting true stories and fictionalizing them somewhat to make a film, but Paul Williams is not a screenwriter, he is a "journalist". It makes me fit to puke to think of how he makes his money and how the Gardai help him do it. I know his book contain lies but even if I didn't, anyone that has read his trash would logically know it immediately anyway, because at the end of many of his HIGHLY descriptive chapters, with such specific details as how people were breathing, and how they moved while carrying out murders, he will have text that will suggest that he also heard a different version of another person being responsible and that that was also a possibility.

    So after describing murders in forensic detail, he suggests not only may they not have happened that way, but that they people that he has just said were there either murder someone or witnessing it, and being accomplices to it, may not have even been there at all.

    I begrudge him every penny he has ever made. It's nauseating.

    I don't work in AGS, so I can't answer the other questions. If she was being investigated, I would imagine it would have to be a GSOC investigation.

    Seriously? I voiced my opinions with the knowledge I do have, and rather than making up an answer to questions I didn't, I didn't answer them. I, nor most of the general public have access to Garda manpower, so I can't comment on whether there were other, suitably qualified Senior Gardaí were available to investigate the alleged leaks.

    The investigation seems to focus on one particular previous investigation, and members who had access to information which was leaked. At no point has it ever been even mentioned that the commissioner was to be investigated. So how can her husband be discriminated against, and told that he can't be lead investigator, just because he is married to her?

    Have a look at my posts below, they were the ones I did know the answer to, so I answered them, or voiced my thoughts/opinion.
