Yeah took the plunge. Was never comfortable with the stupid price of them new vs the misc reliability so a mint low mile used one for a lot less works better!
Brave man, I hope it works out for you.
Lovely looking bikes, and a fantastic sound out of them.

Took a spill the other day and bent my handle bars so i ordered a nice new set of renthals which were waiting for me when i got home! Fitted before dinner and off practicing slow wheelies and wheelies from a stop, much more comfortable than before, went for 25mm narrower bars which feel much better. Cant wait for a decent spin this weekend

Adjusted chain on one, charging battery on other.

Changed the piston seals on one of the front calipers, gave it a good cleaning! New oil,oil filter and plugs. Need to change the coolant the next day.
Also my rear tyre makes a sort of grinding noise when I spin it,the noise happens on the same spot every time but doesn't make the sound when spinning the other way,any ideas?
Thought wheel bearing but there's no play in the wheel.

can try spinning the wheel with the rear caliper removed, see if you get the same

    Removed rear caliper,wheel spun grand.
Took off the caliper to see the condition of it and my god it was f****d with dirt and whatever else . Flew to cc,s and got new pistons seals, gave it a good cleaning and now wheel spins grand :)
Still need to test drive it lol.

Looks great from the front, but I personally would find it weird having the screen that dark from the riding position.

Its funny, most people seem to prefer a slightly see through screen too.
But I really missed a solid screen with no light coming through it.

Although I put the fecking mini deflector brackets on the wrong side.. oops!

Yeah, thats it. I think its just what ever you are used too. Having said that if I recall my FZ6 had very dark smoked screen too, not 100% black.

Fitted some R&G main mushrooms and bar ends. Also fitted the new headlamp. Refinished the mesh side covers.

Now for the next mod... a for sale sign :(

I decided to treat myself to a new master cylinder for the KTM 250 exc as the standard clutch would tire your fingers out after a half hour.

I am still not a hundred percent sure how it actually works but it is spring loaded so you can adjust the force it takes to disengage the clutch. At its lightest setting its lighter than the clutch on a trials bike although it has better feel if you increase the stiffness a bit.

It also has a nice short lever just for your index finger which doesn't clash with your knuckles.

Sold all the bits on to make buying this cheaper. Don't think I'll ever modify something to that extent again!

I had planned to keep the R1 but realistically you aren't going to hold on to something forever. Nearly 6 years was plenty!

See how long it lasts sure!
Have had it just over 2 years now and had the 950SM for 2.5 before that

Im not sure if my mpg has dropped. I was slightly concerned that the rear brake was slightly rubbing as the disc would be a little warm to touch. Not burn your hand warm but warmer than I think it should be.
I removed the caliper and pads and cleaned up the lot. After a test I know they are not rubbing now. I also discovered that the pads have broken off in parts so ill order a new set soon.
