A new old car for me. Bigger engine?

    So, I'm not willing anymore to spend big money on cars.
    I've had;
    1. Opel corsa 1litre
    2. Peugout 206 1.4
    3. BMW 3 series compact
    4. Seat Leon 1.4

    I'm looking for something reliable, don't mind old 04 onwards probably. Don't mind spending money on tax but only under 800, couldn't justify higher than that.
    Has to be 1.8 litre at least. Don't do much mileage, 10-15 thousand a year.

    Have been looking at Mazda 6, ford Mondeo, Honda accord, couple of ones I never considered before like Volvo v40/60.

    Something nice to drive, I have a dog so hatchback would be nice but haven't seen any I like.
    Can spend up to 5000, would like to spend less though!
    Any ideas? Or anything I should avoid?

    Civic hatch 1.8?

    I've had mine 3 years and it's been faultless despite spirited driving. It's very practical too, the boot is very big and you can fold the back seats up as well as down.

    Never really thought about one before. Nice looking car.
    Like the accords but a civic would be more practical for me.
    I'll have a look, thanks!
