    Hi all,

I have a 2012 MINI Cooper with chilli pack - does anyone know if this comes with a spare tyre? Sounds like a stupid question I know (as there is clearly no spare tyr ein the tiny boot!) but some threads suggest that the spare is hanging under the car? Others say that the Cooper with chilli pack has run flats a sstandar - is there any way of knowing witohut checking with the dealer?

    Thanks in advance :)

Read the side wall of the tyres. I think Continental use RSC to denote run flats.

Look in boot... Look under car.

"Thanks" for your very obvious advice augeo. I already said it wasn't in the boot and I cannot see it under the car but don't know if it's tucked away when under the car.

Hopefully a little more helpful replies from others to come....

Only the early r50 coopers had the wheel under the car. Anything from about 04 onwards does not have a spare. You should have the BMW mobility kit in the boot with a compressor and goo.
I'm basing this on our family having a 06 and 10 cooper and an 07 cooper s. None of them have had a spare.

Yours is an r56 btw, in case you aren't aware of the model names

Thanyou Donnelly. Yes I did know it was r56. I think it was forums re older models that mentioned the spare under the car alright.

I do have the kit in the boot and the tyres do not have any run flat symbol on them so I am assuming these are regular tyres.

    Thanks for your reply

My mother has a 2010 cooper that was sold on conventional tyres. The car does have run flat rims on it though so they can be put on afterwards. I would imagine most mini alloys are run flat alloys but I'm not sure of that.

The spare underneath is definitely gone though. I would personally prefer a can of tyre weld to the BMW branded stuff as apparently the tyre is a write off after using the BMW one. Also be sure to check the expiry date on the bottle as I think it's only good for 4 years.

The Continental tyres may also be called SSR (Self Supporting Runflat).

The "slime" sealant is supposed to be cleanable from the tyre after use and doesn't ruin it apparently.
